TeamColorado Match Summaries - 2016 Memorial Day Interstate Championship

Game 1
Team Colorado Vs TSCL

Team Colorado won the toss and elected to field. TSCL started shaky and lost 2 early wickets to Dhiren and Rohit who were causing lot of trouble with swing under partly over cast conditions.
A good follow up spell of leg spin by Bhavya and some sharp fielding by Team Colorado made sure that TSCL did not recover from the initial set backs. Eventually TSCL was all out for 92 runs in 19.3 overs.

Team Colorado chase started with customary 6 hitting by Dhiren and Manjeet. Once Dhiren was out caught in the deep, Manjeet switched from hitting sixes to hitting massive sixes.
Satyam and Manjeet had a 40 run partnership to win the game for Team Colorado, off which Satyam managed to score 1 run. 93 was chased down by him in 5.4 overs.

Manjeet was declared MOM

Game 2
Team Colorado Vs Utah

After a breezy win, Team Colorado was up against a very competitive and a young Utah team. Utah batted first.

Navneed Prasad played some excellent punches and scored a fluent 45 off 53 balls. Seemed like Utah were on course to score around 180, but some good bowling by Rohit and regular chipping at the wickets by Team Colorado kept Utah at 151 in 20 overs. Rohit was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets in 4 overs and 13 runs.

Dhiren had a new partner in Satyam due to Manjeet's unavailability but that did not change Dhiren's custom of hitting a towering six in the first over. Dhiren consumed the Utah opening bowler Gaurav Desai with 22 runs in his first over. Satyam clobbered a couple of huge leg side sixes too in the 53 run opening stand with Dhiren.

Prabu from Utah got the best out of the Team Colorado openers in the same over. This made things interesting which quickly turned into a semi tensed situation when Gopal, Dharam and Jay were out cheaply. It was left to Bodha and Rohit to take Team Colorado through with all eyes on Bodha. Rohit snatched the glory from Bodha by hitting 3 huge sixes to swing the game again in Team Colorado's favor and by the time he was out, it was all too late for Utah.

Rohit was declared MOM

Game 3
Final: Team Colorado Vs Utah

Utah batted first and suffered an early jitter through Dhiren when he got Navneet Prasad in his first over. Soon Rohit dismissed John. In came John and Shahzad. Both the batters displayed some awesome stroke play in their 70 runs partnership. As soon as John was dismissed for 48 by Bodha, Bhavya capitalized by getting Anuj and Ali in the same over. However this did not mellow down Shehzad who carried on hitting some excellent shots and carried his bat with 65 runs. Utah scored 145 in 20 overs.

Dhiren had a third opening partner in Dharam and once the customary first over 6 had been hit by him, he lost Dharam for a peach of an out swinger by Usman. Satyam joined Dhiren and before he could settle, Dhiren held out to a superb diving catch by John at the long on boundary. This brought Gopal to the crease.

Just as the required run rate started to creep, Satyam hit 3 lusty sixes to bring it under control. After Satyam was out to Omar, Jay followed soon and it was in the hands of Gopal and Bodha to win it for Team Colorado. Bodha was out LBW after hitting a huge six and Rohit followed too, but not before he had struck a fierce six.

As the run rate creeped to 9 an over, Gopal maintained his cool and made sure he struck at least 1 boundary in every over. At the end it was 30 runs needed in 3 overs, but by then Gopal was seeing the ball as big as a football. He clobbered 3 sixes in the end to seal the win for Team Colorado and remained not out for 75, scoring half the runs needed.

Gopal was declared MOM.
