Player Of The Week - Sep 6, 2004

 Kervyn Dimney (CSCC-Stars)

Player of the Week on a week-end we did not have any game, seems quite absurd, right ? I thought that I must honor the contributions of those who have performed really well but someone else got the vaunted player of the week on that particular week-end for a plethora of reasons.

This week’s president’s choice for the player of the week is stylish, wristy and very crafty batsman from the One World Cricket Club namely Kervyn Dimney. He has been picked for the outstanding season that he has been having that includes an unbeaten knock of 117* runs, which is the highest individual score of this year’s regular league season. This award is sponsored by one of the finest Indian eateries in Colorado - Denver Woodlands.

Kervyn is one of the finest and most stylish batsman in the state. If you are old enough (which I am!) to have seen a Pakistani great Zaheer Abbas then you would be surprised to see how much Kervyn’s playing style resembles with one of the best timers of the cricket ball. I am sure this comparison will leave a smile on Kervyn’s face for a long time. My very good friend Rajesh Solanki of Gold always reminds me that Kervyn's style might resemble that of Zaheer Abbas but the later has scored 100+ first class Hundreds !!

Kervyn also opens the bowling for OWCC, but it is his batting that differentiates him from rest of the crowd. I have bowled against him a few times last year and was particularly amazed with his exquisite timing and immaculate placement. He is really a treat to watch batting.

Kervyn is a dedicated cricketer; He attends each and every practice organized by OWCC and is the heart and soul of the OWCC.

Kervyn is commonly known as Ranji, for reasons un-known to me. Ranji Trophy is the premier first class national tournament in India also known as 'The Cricket Championship of India'.

There are many un-sung heroes behind this web site. You only see the speedy report about games because of a lot of effort by Kervyn who edits all the reports and news items that I put on the web and makes them of the high quality write-up. I truly thank Kervyn for volunteering to do this.

Kervyn is married and makes his home in Colorado Springs. He has a very agile kid named Nathan who is adorable and fun to be with.
