CSCC wins 2005 CCL Knock Out Championship

Since 2003 the team that sourly missed the chance to call themselves the Cricket Champions in Colorado (i.e Regular League Championship), and rather became second seeded have won the 2005 Knock out championship.

The trend of the league runners up coming and winning the knock out champiosnhip continues this year too, When in the 2005 KO final CSCC won the game against CCL 2005 Champions Fort Collins Cricket Club.

Knock outs is a tournament that CCL organizes after the regular league season so that we can squeez a bit more of cricket from Colorado's weather. The team to claim the KO championship award is the one that wins three games.

CSCC won the toss and invited FCCC to bat. They scored 172 for the loss of all their wickets. For FCCC Nadeem scored a typical 38 (26) and Gopal 32 (54). For CSCC Shashi and Kalpesh took 3 wickets each.

Chasing the good score CSCC's master batsman Kalpesh was out cheaply for 10, but Ananth 29 (38) and Ritesh 35 (31) kept CSCC in the hunt. Ritesh plastered 4 sixes in his quick stay forcing Nadeem and Dipal to come back. FCCC surged back into the game and had CSCC reeling at 121/9.

This was the first time I saw Ritesh Bhakta playing, what a sweet timer of the ball he is. When I stepped in the ground, he was batting and he hit a huge six on the fine leg that left me jaw-dropped. That was the best shot that I saw that day.

Someone forgot to tell Shashi and Abhay as they stood tall with an amazing 52 run 10th wicket partnership to steal the game in unbelieveable scenes. CSCC finished 173/9 and proudly lift the KO Championship Trophy!
