Twenty20 League - Match Reports - Week 11 (22-23 Sep 2012)

FRCC-A Vs CCCC - 22-Sep-2012 - Repported by Sandeep Bollampally

FRCC-A won the toss and decided to bat first. Arun (0/17) and Venu (1/16) gave CCCC a solid start keeping things quite with the ball. FRCC-A lost Amal (5) early to Venu, being caught well by Mantha at long-off. Naveen (17) and Shams (32) then built a good foundation for their team with a well-paced 46 run stand before Cecil (1/14) had Naveen caught behind. Vaidy (1/28) and Cecil were economical in the middle overs and Vaidy was rewarded with the wicket of Shams as he tried to accelerate the scoring rate. FRCC-A ended on a strong note however, with Manju (39*) and Mohan (18) attacking a lackluster death bowling effort from CCCC, to end up with a competitive score of 130.

In their chase, CCCC never seemed to be in any danger, thanks to an attacking 121 run opening partnership between Sandeep (98*) and Mantha (32). FRCC-A tried an innovative approach with spinners bowling 3 of the first 5 overs with Shams (0/15) and Naveen (0/20) operating but neither could induce a false shot from the CCCC opening batsmen. Both batsmen mixed caution with aggression and scored freely- their cause being helped by 19 boundaries in total. 9 runs short of the target, CCCC lost Mantha to a good ball by Siddharth (1/14) but victory for CCCC was not in doubt at that stage and they completed a convincing win with 8 overs to spare.

Sandeep was declared MoM for his batting effort.

FRCC-B @ LCC: T20 Semifinal, September 23, 2012 - Reported by Raj Chitikila (LCC)

FRCC-B played LCC in the second semifinal of the day at Cornerstone Park. LCC won the toss and elected to bat. Reetesh got the early wicket of Randika, but Dhiren and Raja struck some huge blows to take the score to 81 by the 8th over. Raja got out after a blazing 31 in 20 balls. Bodhayan and Dhiren kept the scoreboard ticking until Dhiren departed to a very well taken catch by Captain Murali in the 13th over. Dhiren's score was 61 in 37 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Ramesh (15) and Jay (14*) helped Bodha (28*) accumulate steady runs, and LCC posted a healthy 174/4 in 20 overs.

FRCC-B's chase began with a bang, with 17 runs in the first two overs. However, LCC's young gun, Jay struck on consecutive balls to remove Misbah and Tej in the third over. Murali played a magnificent innings for his 46 in 33 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, but did not find much support on the other end as wickets kept tumbling. Murali was unlucky to miss out on his fifty in the 19th over when he was stumped off Dhiren's bowling. Manoj (13), Pratik (10), and Jigar (10) had noteworthy cameos. For LCC, Dhiren and Raj led with 3 wickets each, followed by Jay's crucial 2 early wickets. FRCC-B was all out for 107, giving LCC a 67 run win.

Man of the Match: Dhiren Patel was declared MoM for his 61 runs and 3 wickets.
