Anchors Vs Panthers - Erie - 07/27/2013 -- Reported by Ravi Dixit(Anchors)

It was a nice sunny morning at Erie cricket ground. Both the teams, Anchors and Panthers, were all pumped up to play for the first win the league. Panthers won the toss and elected to bat first. Panthers started with a good opening pair. Gautam and Sanketh played a sensible opening innings and infact looked dangerous after couple of overs. Ravi Dixit, a spinner from Anchors was brought in by the captain to bowl and he straight away delivered his best leg spin to Saketh to get him stumped out by a very quick Sachin Paradkar. Rajesh from Panthers stepped in as one down. Rajesh and Gautam batted sensibly and got score ticking. A ball before the break is when Panthers lost their opener (2nd wicket), Gautam to a beautifully bowled ball by Das and very well judged, acrobatic catch from Keeper Sachin.

Second half of the Panthers innings looked pretty much Rajesh’s show. Rajesh, who by then built his innings, was willing to hit shots on the loose ones. He was cheeky playing most of his shots behind the wickets, especially on the fast outfield like Erie ground. He Played some great pulls and a cover drive too. Panthers finished their batting with 134 runs on board.

With 135 to chase, Anchors who lost first two matches, were very cautious and yet aggressive on the loose ones. The in-form Bharat kolta and Stylish Sachin Paradkar opened the innings for Anchors. Sachin got out while he pulled a short one. I need to mention about the best catch, we have seen in this league, taken by Bibek. A ONE HANDED CATCH WHILE FLYING IN THE AIR ON THE BOUNDARY.
Das in the first down role, played his natural innings. While Bharat on the other side kept hitting fours on the loose ones, Das was more calm and composed. Bharat got out with a Caught and bowled by GK. His superb innings had 7 lovely fours. Vimal got in a second down. Das, who is one of the best pullers in the league kept on scoring big ones and he looked very dangerous all the time. Vimal who started his innings slowly was eventually able to hit some lovely pulls and a cover drive too for a four. Between the both players, they were able to easily cruise to the victory with 4 hours to bowl.

Special mention: Syntel’s very good and professional umpiring.

MOM: Das Thumma.

SCC Vs Buffs - Longmont- 07/28/2013 -- Reported by Pradyu Godavarthi(SCC)

It was a cloudy morning with light drizzles, when Buffs won the Toss and elected to Bat first. SCC came out strong with a great spell from Vissu and Deepak. Their 8 over spell yielded Buffs only 14 runs for fall of 2 wickets. The outfield was slow and some great fielding by SCC made Buffs desperate for runs. For 10 overs, Buffs were 19/2 but after that, their middle order crumbled and they were able to make only 46 in 19.1overs. The target (47) for SCC looked easily achievable, with openers V Divvi and Chaitanya giving a solid start. SCC was able to finish the Match in 15 overs with 7 wickets remaining.

MOM: Vissu was awarded the Man of the Match for his contribution in bowling(6/2) and batting(16).

Challenger Vs Syndney Smashers - Longmont - 07/28/2013 -- Reported by Mangesh(Challengers)

MOM: Venkat and Kaustubh were jointly declared MOM.

Sydney Smashers Vs SCC - Erie - 07/21/2013 -- Reported by Pradyu(SCC)

Sidney Smashers won the toss and elected to bat first. Smashers started off well with strong partnership between the openers Atholi(28) and Lingampalli(18). It looked like they are going to have a big total. After 10overs Smashers were 47/2. But after that its all about SCC, some great bowling by S kumar for his 3/19 and decent fielding has restricted the Smashers to 104/10 in 20overs. 2nd innings started and it was not an ideal start by SCC, lost first wicket in the 1st over but after that SCC had a good partnership going with Divvi(25) and Pamireddy(21). So for 10overs SCC were 61/3. From there, Captain Arun along with Rajesh have taken the Match away from Smashers. Rajesh’s one of his 2 6’s has finished the Match in style. SCC has won the match in 16.4overs with 6 wickets remaining.
