Dikshith Gandra - POTW - For his 55 runs and 3 wickets.

Player of the week 13

Dikshith Gandra (Denver Indians) is player of the week# 13 for his 55 runs and 3 wickets !!

Denver Indian Vs SCC Superleague Semifinal

DI’s luck with toss continues to be bad. SCC won the toss and elected to field first. Ground conditions were wet at Longmont and whoever does the bowling first had an advantage as it happened to us in Cornerstone for Quarters. DI stepped in to bat first and started very slow as the ball wasn’t going anywhere and getting singles were hard. Openers came back quickly and then Chaitanya and Dikshith took the responsibility to save the team. Both of them tried to rotate as much as possible and established 45 run partnership and then Chaitanya was out for 17 runs. Vikas stepped in to assist Dikshith in rotating the strike and gave strike to Dikshith as much as possible. Vikas and Dikshith had a partnership of 50 runs in the last 6 overs which took DI score to 109 in 20 overs. Dikshith was unbeaten on 55 and his 50 came off six in last ball of 20th over.
SCC had a target of 110 in 20 overs. Chasing in Longmont with more than 60+ is always a challenge and 110 is definitely a good total to chase. Manjith and Vissu came in as SCC openers and Manjith was rotating the strike with ease and he was playing straight batted shots pretty easily. On the other side wickets were falling periodically. Manjith was assisting other batsmen almost till the end. SCC required 55 runs off last 8 overs and Pressure was mounting to go for shots after 14th over and Manjith had no option but to go take a chance and Dikshith has bowled a beautiful ball to get his wicket. That’s when DI was bit relieved and sensed victory to get into finals. Dikshith picked up 3 wickets for 4 runs, Sreekanth joined the club with 3/10, Chaitu and Prasad grabbed 2 wickets each to finish SCC innings.
Umpires were friendly and was great from Kaushik and Shravan. Playing with SCC was professional and friendly.
Special Mention: Dikshith 55* and 3/4, Raghu’s diving catch were the highlights of the game.

MOM - Dikshith Gandra/DI for his 55* and 3/4

MHM Vs Buffs Super League Semifinal

Buffs and MHM were meeting for third time in a succession in a knock out game. MHM won the toss and chose to bowl first. Ravi started the proceedings for MHM and bowled a superb first over getting the wicket of PP and almost got the wicket of Rajan which was judged as No Ball. Rohith was caught behind in second over after hitting a massive six. Buffs lost couple of more wickets in a short span. Srinidhi batted well for a while and caught out beautifully in first slip by Ravi. Sandeep and Srinath batted responsibly in the middle but lost their wickets after the 10 over break. None of the batsman were able to capitalize their starts and posted a respectable score of 78 losing all the wickets in 19.4 overs.
Chasing a target of 79 MHM started well with both the openers Bodha and Rama playing some good looking shots. Rama got run out at his individual score of 11 resulting Indra on crease. Bodha and Indra batted for a while tickling singles around. After Bodha was caught out Swamy joined Indra and made sure they did not lose any wicket till 10 over break. At break MHM were 41/2 and looked very comfortable in chase but Buffs is a team that will never give up. MHM lost 5 more wickets in a quick succession for some wonderful bowling by Buffs. Sudheer.C and Mani made sure there are no surprises and batted through the innings. MHM chased the target in 17.3 overs losing 7 wickets. Finally Milehigh Mavericks are going to play a final.

MOM - Bodhayan Chakraborthy for his crucial innings of 27 runs and 3 catches.

FOCO Vs Untouchable 10/4 Plate League Semifinal

FoCo Devils won the toss and elected to field on a high scoring eerie pitch. Devils opened their bowling with Prathamesh and Kaustubh. Opener A. das was playing sensibly from one side, on the other end Sachin had scored couple of boundaries in the power play. Sachin lost his concentration on the last ball of the power play by nicking the ball to Gandhar off Kaustubh’s bowling. After that Untouchables started losing wickets on regular interval. Sridhar clean bowled A. das with a brilliant yorker. The score at the interval was 53/5 in 10 overs. After the break, Sridhar added three more wickets to his name. FoCo Devils were brilliant in the field. Gandhar was the limelight of the first inning taking 3 wickets and 3 catches. Untouchables were all out for 74 in 16.4 overs.
FoCo Devils started their inning cautiously knowing a target of 75 is easy for eerie ground. But Shashank and Sridhar lost their wicket early trying to be aggressive. In form batsman Kaustubh and Philip started cruising towards victory playing sensibly and hitting bad balls out of the ground. Balls went missing after two big sixes by Kaustubh. Philip contributed with couple of boundaries. At the break, score was 44/2 in 10 overs. Philip (14) and Kaustubh (33) lost their wickets trying for big shots but by then only 12 runs were needed off 36 balls. Prathamesh scored the winning boundary to complete the comprehensive victory in 15th over.
Naveen Bellam (Untouchables) bowled a brilliant spell of 4 overs giving away just 1 run which included 3 consecutive maiden overs. There were several brilliant performances from Foco Devils including Sridhar ( 4-11) , Gandhar (3-14 and 3 catches) and Kaustubh( 33 runs and 1/16) .
Game was played in Great Spirit and the umpiring was impeccable.

MOM - Kaustubh Jagtap / Foco-Devils for his 33 runs and a wicket.

Anchors vs Spartans Plate League Semifinal

Anchors were playing Spartans for the Plate league semi-finals. Most of the Anchors players were playing for the first time against Spartans. Das put Spartans to bat after winning the toss. Sreenivas and Vamsi started the bowling for Anchors .Bharath from Spartans was looking good and he started pretty well against the Anchors. Sreenivas went for runs in his first over but he came back strongly and got the 2 openers caught behind. Das introduced Sachin as the first change bowler and he got a wicket off his first ball. Sachin bowled really well and got 2 wickets for 3 runs in his 2 overs. Spartans were looking in trouble at the end of 10 overs with 5 wickets down and just 50 odd runs on the board but the lower order chipped in and they ended with a respectable score of 129 runs off 20 overs. For Anchors, Vamsi and Das took 2 wickets each and Shravan also got the wicket of Sai.
Bharat and Venkat opened the batting for Anchors, Bharat again threw away his wicket while he looked set in the middle. Kushtar went in as the 1 down batsman and played well for his 24 runs .Meanwhile Venkat again could not check his bad shot and holed a skier to the close-in fielder and got out. Sachin and Kush pushed the score to 60 at the end of 10 overs and Anchors were on target to chase the total. Kush got out to an excellent 1 handed catch at mid-off from Nishanth. Das joined Sachin in the middle but got out bowled trying to accelerate the score while trying to hit against the line off Harsha’s bowling. With 32 required off 24 balls, before the match could get more interesting, Sachin hit flurry of sixes and a four in the 17th over and Vamsi also hit a four off the last ball of the over and bought Anchors really close to their target of 130. Anchors chased down the total within 18.1 overs with the loss of 4 wickets.
