2015 Rocky Mountain State Games - Match updates (18-19 July-2015)

RMSG 2015 Leather Ball Cricket

Leather Ball Cricket tournament as part of RMSG sports started on July 18th Saturday at 9 am at Memorial Ground, Colorado Springs. Eight teams including 90 players participated in the games which spanned for two days on 18th and 19th July and a play-off games on July 25th.

Group A games on July 18th 2015

On the First day of the tournament, in group A, four teams played Round Robin: CSCC-A, RCC, YCC, and Soopaman. At the end of the day, two teams CSCC-A and Soopaman advanced to play-offs.

Match 1 – RCC vs CSCC-A
Host team CSCC-A and RCC played the opening game. CSCC-A batted first and made 112 runs for 3 wickets in 10 overs. RCC were unsuccessful in chasing the target and made 84 runs in 10 overs loosing 4 wickets. CSCC-A achieved their 1st victory.

Match 2 – YCC vs RCC
YCC set a target for RCC a total of 64 runs for 3 wickets. RCC batsmen played well and chased the target set by YCC on the 9th over and won by 7 wickets.

Match 3 – YCC vs CSCC-A
CSCC-A won the toss elected to bat and set a total of 82 for 6 wickets. CSCC-A bowler’s restricted YCC team for 52 for 9 wickets in 10 overs.

Match 4 – RCC vs SoopaMen
RCC set a total of 79 runs for 3 wickets in limited 10 overs. However, SoopaMen’s batsmen played very sensible and successful chased the target in 7 overs losing 3 wickets.

Match 5 – SoopaMen vs CSCC-A
CSCC-A won the toss and selected to bat and made a total of 74 runs for 5 wickets. SoopaMen were successful in achieving the target in the 9th over and won the game by 7 wickets.

Match 6 – SoopaMen vs YCC
Last game of the day was played by SoopaMen and YCC. After winning the toss SoopaMen set a target of 99 runs. YCC struggled to reach the target and were 60 runs and lost by 26 runs.

Overall Results: SoopaMen team with 3 wins (6 points) and CSCC-A 2 wins (4 points) moved on to the play-offs on July 25th against the two qualifying teams from group B.

Match 1 – Crossbats vs CSCC-B
Crossbats 118 for 4 in 10 overs (Manjeet 42 not out, Satyam 40, Dhiren 25, Viswa 2 for 28, Hamayun 1 for 19, Sunil 1 for 24)
Won against
CSCC-B 82 for 5 in 10 overs (Hamayun 24, Jayanth 24, Manjinder 15, Arvind 2 for 4, Satyam 1 for 14, Deepak 1 for 14)

Match 2 – Front Range vs Fourteeners
Front Range 83 for 4 in 10 overs (Rohit 52 not out, Naveen 2 for 7, Satyanarayan 2 for 11)
Lost to
Fourteeners 84 for 3 in 7.5 overs (Ramesh not out 24, Raghu not out 21, Naveen 17, Manju 2 for 11, Rohit 1 for 20)

Match 3 – Front Range vs CSCC-B
CSCC-B 113 for 3 in 10 overs (Hamayun 52, Jayanth 40, Moiz 1 for 11, Manju 1 for 3, Amal 1 for 18)
Won against
Front Range 88 for 4 in 10 overs(Rohit 34, Amal 20 not out, Viswa 2 for 19, Hamayun 1 for 10, Sunil 1 for 26)

Match 4 Fourteeners vs Crossbats
Crossbats 87 for 5 in 8 overs (Dhiren 31, Manjeet not out 19, Preetam 16, Jay 2 for 21, Naveen 1 for 15, Satya 1 for 32)
Won reduced game with target of 33 in 3 overs
Fourteeners (14 for 5 in 3 overs Dhiren 2 for 3, Deepak 2 for 5, Satyam 1 for 6)

Match 5 Crossbats vs Front Range
Crossbats 111 for no loss in 6 overs (Dhiren 59 not out, 37 not out)
Won against
Front Range 47 for 5 in 6 overs (Vivek 16, Gaurav 2 for 15, Vinay 1 for 5, Arvind 1 for 1, Shiva 1 for 19)
