Prerit from Cheetahs provided the first breakthrough with a wicket in his second over. Cheetahs kept chipping away at the wickets and Sumeet was the only Buffs player to make any contribution to the scoreline. Viren, Prerit and Pradeep bowled very well to get the Buffs team down to 93/9 in 16 overs which is a below-par target in Erie.
Cheetahs started really badly with 3 wickets for 20 runs. Sandeep and Vishal played really well to steady the ship and get the equation down to run a ball. Pradeep and Sridhar finished the innings in style with an over remaining. Pradeep top scored with 34 runs.
Viren was awarded the MoM for his 4 wickets.

Sidney XI won the toss and elected to bad first. Sidney lost early wickets and never really looked comfortable against the Jaguars’ bowling attack. Ramesh was the only successful batsman scoring 21 runs and Shreetam was a close second with a contribution of 10 runs. Jaguars’ fielding was nimble affecting 2 run-outs and Harsha did a fantastic job behind the wickets. Anshul was the most effective bowler with outstanding figures of 3-1-6-2. Sidney XI were bundled out for a total score of 63 runs.
Naveen and Anshul started the batting for jaguars with Anshul looking to take advantage of the power play. However, he was quickly out caught behind. Naveen continued his belligerent hitting and Jaguars’ crossed the finish line with a boundary in the 10th over.

CSU Rams VS FoCo Devils
It was time for the local derby! CSU Rams against FOCO Devils. The Devils could smell revenge in the air for their defeat last year at the hands of the Rams while the rookie Rams were trying to prove that the victory against the veteran Devils was not a one-off. And so began the humdinger on a warm Saturday afternoon with the Rams winning the toss and electing to bowl. There was huge support along the lines and you could see how much of a value this game was about and both teams wanted to be better than the other but what followed was only a match worthy of being by any supporter, be it for, against or neutral.

Foco got off to a steady start before Gandhar gave his wicket away at the score of 8. This was followed by two run outs to get rid of Saurabh and Kaustubh thus stamping the fact that the Rams were an all-round team. Philips and Swapnil steadied the innings and got a neat little partnership before the latter got out to a shot he was trying for a while now. Swapnil stood still and moved the scoring along as wickets fell in the opposite end and he only has Sagar to thank that for as he dropped a sitter giving Swapnil a chance and taking Foco Devils to a rather respectable score of 52. Rams bowling card was a joy to look at with figures that of a test match. Srinivas stood out with 2 wickets in his 3.5 overs giving away a meagre 3 runs.

The Rams got off to a bad start with Srivathsan getting out on the third ball of the innings. After that came a moment of controversy in the final ball of the over. The ball was left alone by the batsman after the bowler had bowled on a good line. The keeper collected it and it seemed dead as it was the end of the over, so the batsman (Ravi) moved out of his crease after quite a long time thinking it was the end of the over, but the keeper took off the bails and appealed for a run out/stumping. After long hard discussion, the umpires declared it out though clearly it was dead as soon as it reached keeper and it was also the end of the over. This controversial decision put Rams in a spot of bother and things got worse when Sagar got out in the 3rd over after attempting a shot he wouldn’t be proud of when he looks back at it. Instead of sticking in the crease, he gave away his wicket and the score was reading only 7. But in came Kalyan and Sridhar who steadied the innings and took the score to 36 before Kalyan gave away his wicket, but he had done his job and the Rams now needed only 17 more. This was easily chased down by the Rams thanks to a brilliant and steady 23 by Sridhar who was later adjudged the Man of the Match. His innings made sure that the victory was in Rams hands and consolidate their supremacy in the local derby.

The crowd came in much anticipation and got the match they were hoping for as it had everything – wickets, controversies, steady heads, passionate minds, sad faces and last but not the least happy souls at the end!

Patriots Vs Wyocc
It was a perfect Saturday morning at Fort Collins, Colorado for both the teams playing their second game in the group stage. Patriots having lost their first game look to bounce back by winning against unbeaten Wyoming cricket club (Wyocc) in the season so far.

Patriot’s captain won the toss and asked Wyocc to bat first. This time Wyocc opening batsman Shanthi Sagar had a new partner in Thushara Lankananda. Wyocc had a shaky start as Shanthi Sagar got out early after hitting 4 off the first ball he faced. Nikhil Shetty who played a match winning knock against Jaguars came one down and partnered with Thushara on the other end for a good 18 run partnership before he lost his wicket for 9 runs. Amit Thakar was out early again for 1 and it was left to rest of the team to post decent total. Thushara continued his batting with ease along with Supreeth on the other end adding a valuable 50 runs together. Between overs 5 to 12 wyocc scored at constant run rate while losing three wickets in the form of Supreeth for 20, Thushara for 44 and Naeem for a duck. Thereafter, ever under rated Venkatesh Deshpande once again proved his ability of scoring quick runs at the end by a knock of 32 runs from 12 balls. Patriot’s bowlers did struggle with their extras and poor fielding support on the field.
Chaitanya being the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 4/24. Overall, Wyocc posted a mammoth total of 131 runs on the scoreboard and for patriots to chase 132 in their 16 overs.

In response, chasing a challenging total Patriots got of to a poor start by losing their opener Naman for a 1. Santanu and Praneeth played well for a good 50 odd runs with a good run rate before Amit Thakar broke their partnership. Next batsman Venkat supported Praneeth and they seem to be playing well in the middle without taking risks and ticking the scoreboard at a healthy run rate. At one point, the odds were in favor of Patriots winning the match but thanks to Amit again for successively picking up the wickets of Venkat(13 runs) and Chaitanya(12 runs). With quick couple of wickets Patriots were in trouble chasing down the target and never seem to recover from that. Praneeth, though lost his partners at the other end, played well for his 42 runs and was not out till the end. Patriots played out their 16 overs scoring 107/7 and lost to by 24 runs.
Man of the match was awarded to Venkatesh Deshpande for his quick 32 runs down the order and 2 wickets.

Eagles Vs Scorpions
It was another excellent and warm morning. Scorpions and Eagles both won their first match and with high confidence. It was expected to be another close match as both the teams have some good and exceptional players.
Eagles won the toss and chose to batting first.
Innings 1:
Eagles started their innings with Gopal and Mehul and on the other side Scorpions started their bowling attack with Chida and the first over was a tidy over from him. Gopal and Mehul tried to accelerate scoring in first few overs but it was very tidy bowling from Scorpions. Chida took a wicket in each over in his next 3 overs. Gopal and Srini are very good and game changing batsman and Chida took their wickets to turn the match in favor of Scorpions. He bowled exceptionally well and finished his 4 overs in single spell to finish with 3/7. Rest of the Scorpions bowlers continued to bowl well and put pressure on Eagles batsman by taking wickets at regular intervals. Eagles captain Satya showed some resistance and tried to score some quick runs (22 off 17 balls) but got out in Satish over to completely turn the match in favor of Scorpions. Rajesh and Satish also bowled very well and gave only 13 runs each in their 4 overs. Eagles were restricted to 63/9 at the end of 16 overs.
Innings 2:
Scorpions started their batting with regular openers Sandy and Praveen. Satya and Srini started off the Eagles bowling well by giving only 5 runs in 2 overs. But Sandy and Praveen tried to accelerate the runs from 3rd over and also utilized the bad balls well to score them to boundaries. Fifth over was bowled by Gopal and Sandy smashed his bowling and scored 3 fours and 1 six to manage 23 runs in his over. This over changed the game completely and turned the match towards Scorpions. After that it was a cake walk for Scorpions and they chased the target of 63 in just 6.5 overs without losing any wicket to give them second win of the season. Sandy batted brilliantly as usual and scored 40 in just 24 balls and on the other end Praveen gave him very good support and scored 18 runs in 18 balls.

Before the start of the match it looked to be an interesting contest between 2 good teams but due to exceptional bowling and batting from Scorpions it turned out to be a one sided match. Scorpions did a great job to restrict Eagles to just 63/9 on a batting pitch Erie.
Chida was given Man of the match due to his brilliant bowling of 3/7 on a batting pitch like Erie.
Umpires did a great job and maintained the consistency throughout and there were no issues at all in the match.
