Premier/Twenty20 League - Match Reports - Week 21 (Oct 8-9 2016)
BCC @ CSCC-Stars: Twenty20 game, Oct 9, 2016 10am - Reported by Vamsi Kanumuri(CSCC-Stars)
A beautiful day for the game of cricket. CSCC-Stars won the toss and elected to bat. The goal was to put runs on the board that can be defended. CSCC-Stars did not get to a good start as they lost their openers at the end of 3 overs for just 8 runs. CSCC-Stars needed a partnership that could keep the runs on the board moving as there are plenty of overs to go. Unfortunately, they lost the next two wickets in the next couple of overs with a score of 4/22 in 6 overs.
Raymond Mascarenhas took the responsibility upon his shoulders to stand his ground and kept rotating the strike to take them to a decent score that they can defend and played smart cricket through a long stretch. Towards the end of the 16th over Raymond got out and CSCC-Stars scored stood at 6/59. Charan from the lower order played his innings with some excellent running between wickets converting 1’s to 2’s, 2’s to 3’s. At the end of the 20 overs, CSCC-Stars scored 85 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
Going into bat, BCC needed to play smart as the runs on the board seemed easy to chase. But cricket is such an interesting game, anything can happen. BCC lost its first wicket Ravi Balagopal at the end of the 1st over with 3 runs on the board. This is not what BCC want as they chase, they needed solid partnership at the wicket that can put CSCC-Stars bowling to test. That loss of wicket brought Keyur Amin to the crease. Bhaskar Nayak and Keyur Amin played excellent innings that showed much resilience. Keyur Amin took the CSCC-Stars bowling to the party when he hit some excellent 4’s and 6’s. Bhaskar Nayak provided Keyur the needed support by rotating the strike. BCC secured an easy and dominating win by scoring 89 runs in 13.2 overs for the loss of just 1 wicket.
Overall, the game was played in best spirit and memorial park saw another day of outstanding cricket, one that can be taken to the books.
Man of the Match: Keyur Amin for his dominant and unbeaten innings of 52 runs in 41 balls.
YCC @ CSCC-Stripes: T20 game, Oct 9, 2016 2pm - Reported by Jayanth Krishna (CSCC-Stripes)
YCC were all set for the play–off game for the Plate Championship at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs on the bright and sunny afternoon. CSCC-Stripes won the toss and elected to bat first. Narayan and Jayanth provided a brisk start to the CSCC-Stripes innings with 42 runs scored off four overs with Jayanth scoring 29 of 14 balls and Narayan 19 of 26 balls.
Shortly after the opening partnership was broken,Tejas was the pick of the bowlers for YCC as he ran through the CSCC-Stripes middle order picking a total of 4 wickets in the process. However, useful innings by Viswa (21) and Prasanna(16) kept the score board ticking and Hamayan‘s (22) flurry of boundaries towards the end put the score at 129 at the end of 20 overs.
YCC set out to chase the score and were certainly put on defensive mode with some magnificent fast bowling from Prasanna and Hamayun. This effort put YCC in a tough position with wickets falling at regular intervals. Khustar was holding one end with some nice blows down the ground and was supported by Thushara. But both of them holed out going for big shots and YCC eventually scored 109 at the end of their quota of 20 overs.
Man of the Match: Jayanth Krishna for his effort in setting a platform for CSCC-Stripes to set a competitive target.
