T20 Ė CSCC Stars VS CSCC Stripes, April 22 2017 at Memorial. Report by : Prasanna Damodaran

This was one of the most awaited games of the season as players from the same team split into Stars and Stripes to battle each other for 2 points. The former team-mates challenged one another during practice sessions and this healthy competition between the teams was apparent in the game. Great sportsmanship was also on display on this day.

CSCC Stars won the toss and decided to bat first.

CSCC Stars got off to a flying start with Kervyn and Narayan running well between the wickets and smashing the CSCC-Stripes bowlers when the opportunity presented itself. Narayan 7(12b 1X4) got out chasing an outside off ball, which just flicked his bat and smoothly landed in wicket keeper Mohanís gloves. Soon Kervyn 24 (14b 2x4 0x6) was looking to slog Sunilís ball outside the line, but he only skied it in the air off a big top edge. Sunil settled under it and took a comfortable one.

Hamayun joined the party with Jayanth, when CSCC Stars were 52/2 in 5 overs. They both sent the ball and the fielders across the boundary line all over the park. Jayanth played an excellent innings 61* (36b 6x4 2x6) and was retired hurt missing his maiden century after a muscle pull.

Hamayun kept going by playing his favorite slog-sweeping shot with the turn over mid wicket. He played an excellent innings scoring his maiden century 123* (51b 3x4 14x6). CSCC Stars scored 58 runs in last 3 overs and ended up getting their highest T20 score and highest T20 score at Memorial Park with 249/2. For CSCSS Stripes Sunil and Gaurav got one wicket each.

CSCC Stripes started their innings chasing a massive target of 250, but CSCC Stars bowlers didnít allow the openers to settle down with Prasanna taking both the openers Mohan and Gaurav in his consecutive overs. Viswa and Rama bowled well to take a couple more wickets and CSCC Stripes top-order batsmen were back to pavilion. Later Alagar tried hitting Narayanís swing bowling over extra cover, but Kervyn didnít allow it to pass through him, thereby taking an excellent catch. Raymond joined Varun chasing a 20 run rate per over, but Abhay took both the batsmen out of crease with his favorite toe crusher. Abhay bowled a brilliant comeback spell taking 3 wickets. CSCC Stripes ended up scoring 48 runs in 19.5 overs losing all their wickets.

Man of the Match: Hamayun Zaheer for his brilliant, scintillating and unbeatean knock of 123* with 14 sixes and 3 fours in just 50 balls.

LCC-Lions @ FCCC: T20, Apr 23, 2017 - Reported by Bodhayan Chakraborty(LCC-Lions)

LCC came to Boltz second time in two weeks to play their second T20 against FCCC after they demolished CCCC in their first game. Continuing their rich batting form, they piled 314 in the P40 game last week against FCCC in the same venue. So, LCC-Lions were high in confidence coming to this game.

The weather was nice around mid 50s when the toss happened. Lions won the toss and elected to bowl first as there was some dampness in the outfield from the overnight sprinklers and the weather was suitable for some swing bowling. Dhiren and Jay started to bowling against FCCC duo Dipal and Omar. They were a little subdued against some good and accurate bowling of Dhiren and Jay. Jay got the first breakthrough in the 4th over when a peach of an out-swinger pegged back Omarís off stump. Faiq joined Dipal and they mixed caution with aggression to take FCCC 48 for 1 after 8th over. Dhruv got Faiq out bowled in the 9th over when Faiq swung across the line. FCCC went to the drinks break comfortably placed at 73 for 2.

LCC pulled things back after the drinks break. First Sandeep removed Dipal and Naveen in back to back deliveries in 12th over. FCCC was still going at decent run-rate of around 7 till the end of 14th over. In the next five overs, FCCC could score only 23 runs and they bowled out in the 19th over for 125 runs. Bodha got three wickets when Dhiren, Jay and Sandeep took two each. At the innings break, Lions would be happier between the two teams as at one stage FCCC were looking to score more than 150.

Dhiren and Dharam started the chase for Lions and as usual, Dhiren was the aggressor. Dhiren hit couple of sixes of Dipal in the 2nd over and Dharam hit couple of boundaries of Omar in the 4th over. Naven bowled an economical spell of just 9 runs in 4 overs but was unlucky not to pick up any wicket. The game was at balance till 5th over but turned on his head in 6th. Dhiren hit 4 consecutive sixes of Dharshan all around the ground in the 6th over. That certainly swung the game to Lions favor. Then against the run of play, Dharam got out in the 8th over and Dhiren got out in the 10th over after scoring 67 of 36 balls hitting 1 boundary and amazingly 8 over it. But, Lions were sitting at comfortable 93 for 2 after the 10th over.

Then, as it happened previously with LCC, they lost few wickets in a hurry. Some reckless shots by Lions batsmen and pressure created by FCCC bowlers and fielders took the game to the wire. Ultimately sanity prevails for Lions when Dhruv hit the winning boundary in the first ball of the last over. Dipal and Naman took three wickets each and Rajesh took two wickets.

Man of the Match: Dhiren Patel was rightly declared man of the match for his match winning all-round performance of 3.1-0-12-2 and 67 of 36 balls.
