My name is Sampath Kannan (Ex-CCL player that played for BCC and YCC) and I am a volunteer with Vibha, a grassroots level organization which helps children realize their potential through education. I am reaching out to you today because me and my fellow volunteers in Vibha want to help the kids in Denver's Sheridan School District with their education. And we intend to do this by raising funds to buy 100 Chromebooks for the school district this summer.

If you did not know, Sheridan School District is the 2nd poorest school district in the state of Colorado. I did not know this either. I found this out while driving back from work one day listening to Colorado Public Radio. They were comparing two School districts in Denver Metro Area on each side of Belleview Ave West of I-25 – Littleton and Sheridan. Sheridan, unfortunately, is the 2nd poorest school district in the state of Colorado. They have only 5 Schools (1 Early Childhood Center, Elementary School, Middle School, High School and SOAR Academy) but serve over 1500 children!
This school district lacks funds to meet the needs of their students. And being so close to the school district, me and my friends in Vibha wanted to help. We reached out to Micheal Clough, the Superintendent of the Sheridan School District. He explained the various challenges the school district was facing, like lack of funds to support programs, lack of substitute teachers for high school and mentors to help kids on their homework. He explained on a Reading Program Project that he was working, which was close to his heart. This will help in improving the reading habit and the vocabulary of the kids. This project involved giving 100 Chromebooks to 3rd Graders (who didn't have such technology at their home) to take home during the summer break.
The School has purchased the reading program (like Netflix, but for books). The kids will have to take a simple test to identify their area of interest and the program will start with a book. Once the kid reads through that book and the program will find books which are close to their reading interests and recommend another book. This goes on. This lets the kids to read as many books as they want using this program.
We wanted to support his idea and help him raise funds for the 100 chromebooks.
Please help Sheridan School District achieve this goal - Donate and share this Fundraiser - Help us raise the funds and help kids in our community to benefit from this great program.
