Twenty20 Match Reports - (24-25 June 2017)

CCB @ CSCC-Stars – Twenty20 game, Sunday June 25, 2017 at Memorial Park - Reported by Kervyn Dimney(CSCC-Stars)

CCB won the toss and elected to bat.
Prasanna started off well for CSCC-Stars giving away only 2 runs in the first over, while Hamayun gave 3 runs in the next over. Seeing the need for runs, Eugene and Satyam started working the singles and a few hits to the boundary, quickly raced to 34 in 6 overs. With the introduction of Avinash, CSCC got their breathru when Satyam(23) was bowled over. Before the break CCB were comfortably at 52 for 1. Wanting to put up more on the board, CCB soon lost Om to Narayan, quickly followed by Kervyn removing Rajesh Rathod. Narayan’s tight bowling put pressure on the batsman. Preetam hit a four and a six before being caught by Jayanth off Kervyn. In his final over Kervyn was able to remove Hari and ended up with 3 wickets.

Avinash then removed the lonesome Eugene(24) who was trying to stick around. In his final over Narayan was able to bowl Deepak and get Prudhvi caught by Jayanth ending his spell with 12 runs for 3 wickets. Trying to ensure that CSCC got CCB all out, Hamayun bowled a good tight last over giving away only 1 runs and some tight fielding from Prasanna and Sandeep effected the 2 run outs... Shivaram out the first ball and Arvind in the last ball. CCB were all out for 93.

Deepak opened the bowling for CCB, and Kervyn & Sandeep opened for CSCC. Kervyn was able to hit his first six in the 4th ball and the first over ended with 8 runs on the board. Shivaram bowled a tight second over, but Kervyn was targeting Deepak and got 12 runs off two fours in his next over, and then another 9 off 2 fours of his following over. At the end of 6 overs, CSCC were 42/1 having lost Sandeep. Viswa didn’t stay long nor did Jayanth. At the end of the 10th over CSCC were 55/3. An over later, CSCC lost Kervyn(43), and soon after, Hamayun cheaply, putting pressure on CSCC at 63/5; and CCB back in the driver’s seat. To make matters worse CSCC Stars lost Abhay and Narayan in the 15th over to Arvind Hosur..CSCC 67/7. Another run later, CSCC lost Avinash, to bring in Fahad who quickly got off to a start with a double.

With still 25 to get in 5 overs and just 2 wickets to spare, Prasanna and Fahad played sensibly to each hit a huge six, hijacking over# 17 with 16 runs, and relieved the pressure. With just 9 to get in 3 overs, they kept taking the singles as they came, and by the end of the 19th over saw CSCC home with an over to spare.

This turned out to be a perfect end to the week for CSCC-Stars as they beat both LCC-L (the previous day), and CCB (today).

Man of the Match: Kervyn Dimney for his 43 off 32 (5 fours and 1 six) and his 3 wicket haul.

LCC-Lions @ CSCC-Stars – Twenty20 game, Saturday June 24, 2017 at Memorial Park - Reported by Viswa Azhar(CSCC-Stars) & Kervyn Dimney(CSCC-Stars)

LCC L won the toss and chose to bat.

Prasanna bowled a tight spell, for most part unplayable, at the start for the CSCC-Stars and he was able to keep the explosive openers of LCC-L at check. Not able to score off Prasanna, Dhiren went after Hamayun for a couple of sixes; and LCC-L had a steady start of 40/0. After the power play, Avinash was introduced and he quickly got rid of Dharam Patel caught behind to Fahad, and then Chaithanya with a clever slow ball, got Dhiren (30 off 22) caught at short square leg by Siva. They had a good spell in the middle to get a wicket each, and the LCC-L were at 65/2 after 10 overs after some meaty hits by Bodha. Sakthivel Sadhanantham 16(18) and Bodhayan Chakraborthy 35(24) with 4 sixes steadied the innings. Prasanna got Bodha to sky one to deep long-on where Narayan adjusted well and held on to it, thus ending the flow of runs. Some contributions from Dhruv (18) towards the end added to the LCC-L total. Good Bowling by CSCC and wickets at regular intervals restricted LCC – L to 120/8 in 20 overs. Narayan Madabusi, Avinash Vattaprambu and Chaithanya picked up 2 wickets each, Prasanna and Humayan took 1 each.

CSCC-Stars got to a bad start, losing Kervyn Dimney to a run-out and Jayanth bowled in the first over with just 1 run on the board. Mohammad Viswa 12(18) and Narayan Madabusi 20(34) steadied the innings for the stars with a partnership of 40 runs. CSCC-Stars were at 45/3 after 10 overs. Losing Narayan and Viswa brought Hamayun and Chaithanya to the crease, and the match changed after this with some big hitting from Humayun Zaheer 42 runs from 29 balls, Chaitanya 17(15) played great support at the other end with a huge six from him too off Bodha. The match got closer with both Humayun and Chaitanya getting out at the tail end. With 4 runs to get in the last over, Avinash and Fahad took 3 consecutive singles and then were gifted a wide, seeing CSSC Stars over the line in this close encounter. Dhiren picked 2 wickets for LCC L with Bodha, Dhruv Suhag, Amarendar Nagarajan and Shoaib Dilawar getting 1 each.

Man of the Match: Hamayun Zaheer was rightly declared MoM for his superb effort with bat (42 off 29 with 4 fours and 2 sixes) to bring a long-awaited win to his team against LCC-L.
