T20 – CSCC-Stars VS LCC-T, August 13th, 2017 at Memorial. Report by: Prasanna Damodaran(CSCC)

LCC-T won the toss and decided to bat first.

LCC-T were two players short for this game and had a bad start after losing star batsman Nayab Khan to Prasanna’s slower one in the 4th ball of the innings. Manish Joined Mayank and kept the scorecard moving. Manish looked confident and was middling the ball very well, but he lost his leg stump to Prasanna as he tried playing across. LCC-T’s batsman were finding it hard to judge Hamuyan’s swing. Chava took a spectacular catch to dismiss captain Aashish Janoria. LCC-T were 32 for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of 9 overs.

With opener Mayank still there in double-digits and building a small partnership with Chandrasekhar, current T20 leading wicket taker Kervyn Dimney (18 wickets) was brought into the attack. Beating Mayank a couple of times, he bowled him in the 5th ball to see LCC-T at 36/5 at the end of 10 overs. LCC-T then started playing very defensively to Narayan, Siva and Viswa, and were picking on the singles and extras to put some runs on the board before Siva picked up Chandrasekhar in the 14th over. LCC-T got to their 50 in the 17th over.
The last two wickets came in the 18th and 19th over, with Kervyn trapping Seshu LBW and Hamayun with a good direct hit to get Vijay Limma run out. At the end of 18.1 overs LCC-T were all out for 57 runs. Prasanna & Kervyn picked 2, Humuyan, Siva and Chaithanya took 1 wicket each.

Since rain was predicted at Memorial from 4pm, CSCC-Stars wanted to reach the target soon. CSCC-Stars started their innings chasing 58. Kervyn and Sandeep got off to a solid start. Kervyn scored 21 in just 19 balls. Sandeep played a brilliant knock scoring 20 in 25 balls. With just 1 required, Jayanth helped CSCC Stars cross the finish line with a huge six. CSCC stars won the match by scoring 63/4 in just 9.2 overs.

Man of the Match: Kervyn Dimney for his all-round performance: 21 (19b 1x4) and 2/9.

FCCC at FRCC: T20 game - played on Aug-13 2017 – Reported by Rohit Saini, FRCC

After losing the P40 game to FCCC on Saturday, FRCC hosted FCCC for a T20 game on Sunday morning.Due to the morning dew the ground was dripping wet, both the captains and umpires decided to delay the start of the game and the game finally started at 8:30 AM.

FRCC’s captain Rohit won the toss and decided to bat first.
FRCC started with Sumeet and Amal, both played cautiously and added 30 runs in first 4 overs. Rajesh was introduced in the 5th over by FCCC and the move worked. Rajesh got Sumeet(14) in the 5th over and got Amal(14) and Rohit(0) bowled in the 7th over of the innings. FRCC were clearly on the back foot at this stage, as 3 of their top scorers this season were already back in the pavilion with just 40 runs on board.

Some tense faces in the dugout and the match seemed to be slipping away from FRCC. But then came the heroics from Sanket who wasn’t in the greatest of forms this season. Sanket started his innings on a positive note by hitting Rajesh for 12 runs in his third over and hitting Ravi for 17 runs in the next. Runs started flowing and Sanket quietly built 2 very important partnerships with Abhinav (19) and Murali (15) and also completed his first 50 of the season.

FRCC were nicely poised at 134-5 at the end of 17 overs. But they knew they need a big over to get to a fighting total against the strong FCCC batting line-up. The explosion came in the 18th over of the game which went for 26 runs. Sanket got out in the 19th over after a well-made 82 (45b 4x4 7x6) getting the team to a safe zone. He played some delightful strokes over covers and point boundary. Subhashish also contributed with 30 (13b 2x4 2x6). FRCC finished the innings with 188-8 in 20 overs. For FCCC Rajesh picked 3 wickets and Naveen picked 2 wickets.

FRCC got a good total on the board but they knew FCCC would come out all guns blazing. FCCC needed a good start from Omar and Darshan but they lost Darshan(4) in the very first over LBW to Rohit. Shantanu joined Omar and both started playing big shots. FRCC knew chances will come and the chance came in the 6th over when Omar(24) tried to clear Chari over cow corner boundary but was safely pouched by Rohit. Runs dried up and FCCC lost Dipal (2) and Shantanu (28) as well before the break.

Naveen (47) tried his best to take FCCC as close as possible to the winning total but his efforts were not enough in the end. FCCC were bundled out for 137 runs and FRCC won the game by 51 runs. Rohit picked 4 wickets and Chari & Subhashish picked up 2 wickets each. Overall a disciplined bowling effort by all the FRCC bowlers.

Man of the Match: Sanket Sharma for his amazing knock of 82 (45b 4x4 7x6).

RCC @ LCC-L: T20 game, Aug 12, 2017 - Reported by Dhiren Patel(LCC-L)

Lions were playing second double header of the season. After losing first game in the morning against CCB, Lions were all set to host RCC in the afternoon. Lions won the toss and captain immediately chose to bat first without any hesitation.

Lions didn’t have a good start with Dhiren losing his wicket in the third over without contributing much. Karthik played a very sensible and positive inning by getting the opportunity to open the innings, and scored 24 runs. Bodha came to the crease at the start of the sixth over. He already played a brutal innings in the morning game against CCB scoring 118 out of team total of 152. He continued raining sixes in this inning too and scored 72 in just 35 balls with 7 towering monster sixes. LCC were all set to celebrate his 200 runs in a day when he was just 10 runs away, he got out at square leg off Vikrant’s first ball. LCC were all out in 19.5 overs scoring 129 runs. Adarsh, Vikas and Satish took 2 wickets each.

RCC openers Adarsh and Vikesh started the inning scoring only 2 runs of the first over. Adarsh got out in the second over while pulling good length ball. Vikesh played a very sensible inning with little aggression and scored 40 runs in 40 balls before he got out LBW to Bhavya. LCC started getting on top by taking quick couple of wickets but Sreeni hit couple of sixes and kept RCC alive in the game.

With 31 runs needed in just 30 balls and 3 wickets in hand, RCC had an upper hand in the game. However, batsmen wanted to finish the game quickly by hitting big shots. But with LCC's disciplined bowling, RCC lost their wickets and were all out for 114 in 19 overs. Dhruv took three wickets with his economical spell by giving only 18 runs in 4 overs. Dhiren, Bodha and Sandeep got 2 wickets each.

BCC won the toss and elected to bat against YCC. BCC started with the opening pair of Ben and Bhaskar who started cautiously for the first two overs. Bhaskar continued to play sensible innings and batted full 20 overs to reach to his maiden CCL half century. At the end of 20 overs BCC posted 166 runs on the board.

With clouds looming over the ground BCC started their bowling with an eye on finishing first 10 overs as soon as possible. While YCC kept losing wickets at regular intervals but the opening batsman Sunil dropped anchor and scored 43 in as many balls before getting out at long on. With Rinsan being the chief destroyer with the ball, everybody pitched in with disciplined bowling. Tushara came out late in the game with some lusty blows and scored a quick fire 26 off 21 balls. Eventually YCC ran out of the limited overs and were able to score 122 runs.
