Premier/Twenty20 Match Reports - Week 4 (28-29 Apr 2018)

DCC @ FRCC-B: Twenty20 – 10am Saturday April 28, 2017 at Lower Garden Acres, Longmont - Reported by Manohar Karthikeyan(FRCC-B)

The game started on time with DCC winning the toss and electing to bat. Sameer Chavan and Manjinder Singh came out to bat against Kalyan Sundar and Vaibhav Tanpure from FRCC-B. The DCC opening batsmen came out with an aggressive intent with FRCC-B not helping themselves by dropping Sameer Chavan. Kalyan was struggling a bit to control the new ball and Sudarsh decided to bring on Srijeet which proved to be a good decision as he removed Sameer caught by Vaibhav at short third man for 17(19) and trapped Manjinder in front of the stumps for and enterprising 36(21). This brought together Harpreet Singh and Jaswinder Singh. But Jaswinder did not last long as Rajeshkumar trapped him in front with his brand of bowling where he bowled a lot of leg cutters. Rajeshkumar, Shivraj and the FRCC-B bowlers were bowling very well in the middle overs not giving the DCC batsmen a lot of runs. Harpreet still looked very good scoring some big hits, but he was given a respite as he was dropped off Gandhar’s bowling with the team score at 95.

But FRCC-B rallied and bowled beautifully at the end with Shivraj and Srijeet especially bowling great death overs. Eventually DCC ended their innings at 152/3 in 20 overs despite not loosing a lot of wickets. Harpreet top scored with a 47 ball 47 as he remained unbeaten ably supported by Sankey Wagh with an unbeaten 29(22). Srijeet and Rajeshkumar were FRCC-B’s standout bowlers with figures of 4-0-27-2 and 4-0-21-1 respectively. Shivraj supported them very well bowling at a really good pace but unfortunate to not pick up any wickets.

In response, Vivek and Gandhar opened the batting for FRCC-B as FRCC-B changed their batting order a bit. But that did not affect Vivek as he picked up from where he left off in the previous best and he looked supremely confident. Vivek was particularly severe on the pacers hitting a trio of sixes off them. Gandhar ably supported him at the other end playing calmly. But the introduction of spinners seemed to turn the game a bit as Manjinder cleaned up Gandhar for 13(18) and putting a break on the scoring. Vivek unfortunately got out to a slow yorker by Umang for an enterprising 38(26) as he began to tire. This brough Rajeshkumar to the crease along with Rahul Ahire who was playing his first match for FRCC-B. Rajesh looked confident as he hit a clean six over long on off his second ball. Rahul started off steadily but didn’t last long as Jaswinder cleaned him up for 9(13).

Sudarshan joined Rajesh in the middle as they went about scoring quick runs and taking FRCC-B closer to the target. Rajesh looked in great touch as he was clearing the boundary well and was taking the singles when he couldn’t to ensure that no pressure was built. This gave Sudarshan time to settle but just when the partnership was building, Rajeshkumar was run out trying to sneak a quick single for a well made 30(21). Manohar joined Sudarshan in the middle as they had to pick up the scoring rate with 42 required off 4 overs.

But the 17th over proved to be the turning point as Sudarshan and Manohar were severe on Manjinder hitting a total of 21 runs off the over including two sixes huge sixes. This brought the game within touching distance of FRCC-B, but Manohar couldn’t take the game to the end as he holed out to deep cover for 10(9). With the company of Shivraj, Sudarshan managed to take FRCC-B to victory in the 20th over with 2 balls to spare remaining unbeaten on 38(23) and Shivraj remained unbeaten on 8(8) as FRCC-B won by 5 wickets. Vivek and Sudarshan top scored for FRCC-B with 38 each while for DCC, Jaswinder, Harpreet, Umang and Manjinder picking up 1 wicket each.

Man of the Match: Rajeshkumar Jha for his all round performance of 4-0-21-1 while bowling and his fantastic innings of of 30(21) in FRCC-B’s successful run chase.

CCB @ BCC: T20 – 2.30PM Sunday Apr 29,2018 at Lower Acre Garden, Longmont - Reported by Rajesh Rathod(CCB)

BCC won the toss and elected to bat first as they were high on confidence from previous results. Ben and Rajat opened the batting for BCC. Manjeet shared the new ball with Bhaskar and there was great swing bowling on display. BCC started cautiously but looked at cutting loose after few overs but some brilliant bowling by both kept them quiet. Ben was first to get out when he guided the ball to Kamal at Gully area off Manjeet. Rajat and Om perished in same over off Satyam. Satish holed out trying to up the run-rate. Hardik and Jimmy had a partnership of 20 runs when Jimmy got out trying to one out of the park. Some great batting by Emran and Naren in the last overs took BCC to a respectable score of 143. Satyam was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets from 4 overs and conceded only 27 runs. Manjeet and Kanag picked 1 and 2 wickets respectively.

CCB opened the innings with Satyam and Harsha and started quite well. Score was 21 off 1.5 overs when Harsha got out for 10. Manjeet joined Satyam in middle and but soon perished hitting too many shots. Kamal joined in then and had a decent partnership with Satyam of 34 runs. Preetham played well for his 24 (3 6’s) once Satyam got out and Kamal and Hari wrapped up the things in 10.2 overs. Kamal was the stand-out batsman with the scoop shot which almost landed inside of the house next to boundary. Ben bowled beautifully without any support from the fielders, but the figures didn’t justify that though. Both Ben and Lokesh snapped 2 wickets each. At the end it was an easy win for CCB with 6 wickets in hand and almost 10 overs to spare.

Man of the Match: Kamal Ponday for his superb effort with bat 59(28)* with a monstrous six of a scoop shot.

CSCC-Stars @ FRCC-A: Twenty20 – 2pm Saturday April 28, 2017 at Lower Garden Acres, Longmont - Reported by Shrishailesh Chari(FRCC-A)

The game started on time with CSCC-Stars winning the toss and electing to bat. Santosh and Kervyn Dimney came out to bat against Subhashish and Chaitanya from FRCC-A. The CSCC-Stars opening batsmen started cautiously but Kervyn decided to launch into Chaitanya in his second over hitting him for two sixes and a boundary before Chaitanya got the better of Kervyn for 21 off 14 caught by Sanket at mid off. Subhashish got Santosh the next over LBW for 8 off 12. This brought Sandeep and Vikas together but Sandeep did not last long as he holed out to Abhinav at mid on for 3(12) off Subhashish’s bowling. The next batsmen in was Jayanth. Jayanth and Vikas went about tonking the FRCC-A bowling scoring some big sixes during their quickfire 77 run partnership where Jayanth scored an enterprising 48 off 29 before being cleaned up by Abhinav whom Jayanth had hit for a couple of sixes in the previous over. Hamayun hit a six before departing for 10(8) off Rohit’s bowling. Prasanna and Vikas finished the innings with a flurry of hitting finishing at 189 for 5 off 20 overs. Vikas was unbeaten for a 38 ball 65 and Prasanna at a 9 ball 21. Subhashish was FRCC-A’s best bowler with figures of 4-0-20-2. Rohit, Murali and Abhinav picked up 1 wicket each along the way.

In response, Sumeet Khule started in his typical flamboyant and self assured fashion scoring a bulk of FRCC-A’s initial scoring. He took CSCC-Stars’ bowlers to the cleaners keeping the run rate above the required rate. At the other end, Smitesh struggled to get to grips with the CSCC-Stars’ bowling as he was cleaned up by Hamayun for 9(15) just when he started to connect his shots. Rohit Saini came in next and hit a clean six to get his innings started. But the first turning point of the innings ame when Narayan Madbusi came into the attack. With his brand of gentle paced inswing bowling, he removed Rohit in his first over trapped in front for 12(8). He followed it up by having the next in Sanket Sharma caught at short third-man for 4(6).

FRCC-A were still comfortable at 110 for 3, but when Narayan had Sumeet caught at deep cover for a flawless 75 off 40 (with 8 sixes all over the park), the tide seemed to turn. Narayan finished his spell getting the no. 5 batsman Abhinav caught at long on for 5(6) to leave FRCC-A at 121 for 5. The batsman at the other end Kalyan V struggled to get the big shots but next in Girish after surviving a dropped catch by Prasanna, wrestled back some momentum by hitting 2 huge sixes. But soon after Kalyan V was removed in an attempt to accelerate for 9(14) quickly followed by Girish for 16(9).

But this brought the pair of match winners, Sridhar Chilukuri and Subhashish Dash together. They cleared the ropes with considerable ease as Sridhar hit the ball hard in his unique style as Subhashish did what he did quite a few times last season by clearing the ropes at the perfect time to take FRCC-A to within touching distance of the target. But before they could take the game to the finish line, Sridhar was run out for 21(9) at a staggering strike rate of 233. But Subhashish took FRCC-A over the line remaining unbeaten for 21(10). Narayan was CSCC-Stars’ standout bowler with figures of 4-0-37-4 as Santosh took 2 wickets and Hamayun took 1.

Man of the Match: Subhashish Dash for his all round performance of 4-0-20-2 in bowling and his fantastic finish of 21(10) taking FRCC-A over the line in the chase.
