Premier/Twenty20 Match Reports - Week 16 (28-29 Jul 2018)

LCC-T @ FRCC-B : Twenty20 – 12pm Saturday July 28, 2018 at Cornerstone - Reported by Manohar Karthikeyan(FRCC)

LCC-T won the toss and elected to bat in the last Round 1 game for both the teams.

LCC-T started off a little shaky as they lost one of their openers in the second over. Dharmender played some good shots before Gaurav took his wicket in the 5th over. Aashish played well for his 21 before Chidambara removed him. FRCC-B bowled well and were taking wickets at the right time. Zohair steadied the ship by playing well for his 16 runs. Gaurav, Akshay and Rajesh took 1 wicket each. Aagam bowled well to remove 2 wickets. Chidambara was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets. LCC-T were restricted to 99.

FRCC-B in reply lost Kalyan early by a brilliant catch by Manish. Raj and Manohar played well and at one point ere cruising through. Raj was then dismissed by Aashish, which required a superb catch by Ahamed. Sudarshan then joined. FRCC-B then lost Manohar for 28. Rahul and Sudarshan played sensibly and got FRCC-B home.

Man of the Match: Chidambara Gupta for his brilliant bowling 3-0-21-4.

CCB @ CCCC: T20 – 12.30PM Sunday Jul 28, 2018 at Lower Acre Garden, Longmont - Reported by Preetham Naik(CCB)

CCB won the toss and elected to Bat first to put up a big total against the top team CCCC in their group. CCB started slow when Harsha and Preetham opened the innings with just 14 runs on the scoreboard by the end of 4th over. But, recovered pretty quick by going after the bowlers and scoring 28 runs in the next two overs. The first wicket was picked up by Suresh who dismissed Harsha for just 10 runs. By the end of 6th over CCB were 43 for 1. CCB recovered and continued to score at a steady pace and reached 60-1. However, a succession of wickets followed, when Sandeep picked both the left handers with their legs before wicket and managed to bring the game back to control with CCB at 60 for the loss of 3 wickets. Manjeet took the lead from this situation and blazed through the rest of the innings scoring massive 75 runs from just 39 deliveries. He was well supported by Kamal in the middle order. Mike Riley was the highlight for CCCC bowling attack for his great spell (4-0-38-3), but Kanagaraj was the catalyst in the end driving the CCB’s momentum with his brilliant knock of 30 from just 20 deliveries. CCB landed with a total of 178 runs for 6 wickets by end of their innings.

CCCC had a solid start with Satya and Anil giving a very good start by scoring 25 runs partnership when Anil was caught by Rakesh and gave the breakthrough for Satyam to pick the first wicket. Sandeep and Satya managed to keep the momentum going at a steady pace when Satya was bowled by Preetham for 18 runs, quickly followed by Srini who was caught by Harsha over the mid-wicket on his first delivery faced. At this stage CCCC’s batting looked dicey with a big total ahead and they were 3 wickets down. Sandeep who was scoring at a steady pace during the first few overs he faced, went after Preetham’s last over sending the ball over the fence every ball, in which he scored 35 runs. The innings did not last long for Sandeep as he was dismissed by Satyam through an unexpected one-handed catch by Kamal which was the highlight of the innings. Sandeep answered the CCB’s bowling attack with a big score of 61 in just 33 deliveries, but overall CCCC fell short of 66 runs. The other highlights of CCB’s bowling was Satyam with his brilliant spell (4-0-17-3) and Kanagaraj (3-0-12-2).

RCC @ FRCC: T20 – 10AM Saturday June 28, 2018 at Lower Acres, Longmont- Reported by Vikesh Parmar(RCC)

This match was supposed to start at 10 AM but got delayed by ~30 mins due to wet ground conditions. Eventually it started with RCC winning the toss and electing to bat first. With wet & extremely slow out field and an overcast weather, playing conditions were specifically challenging for batsmen. Adarsh & Vikesh gave a steady start to RCC inning, contributing a 56 run partnership in 9.1 overs. Adarsh missed out on a larger inning & got out at 37, Vikesh soon followed suit & was dismissed at 20. With 1 wicket in first 10 overs, RCC was aiming to utilize last 10 overs but Smitesh had other plans, with his accurate & disciplined bowling he got 5 quick wickets & restricted RCC to a below par score of 110 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Sumeet and Amal started FRCC inning, Adarsh Stuck first blow with in his first over, trapping Amal in front of wickets. Abhiram started on other END & bowled an excellent spell. Just giving away 7 runs in his 4 overs and picking 3 wickets from FRCC top order. FRCC scored 43/4 in their first 10 overs. With Sumeet on crease, the match was still in favor of FRCC. But in 12 over Vikrant trapped Sumeet in front of his wickets. FRCC keep on loosing wickets, and in the end got all out for 83 runs. RCC won the game by 27 runs thanks to some excellent bowling and fielding.

Man of the Match: Abhiram Srinivasan for his amazing bowling 4 overs 7 runs and 3 wickets.
