Premier/Twenty20 Match Reports - Week 5 (4-5 May 2019)
DCC @ CSCC: Premier - 9am Sunday May 05, 2019 at Memorial Criterium Ground, Colorado Springs - Reported by Vikas Shivaprabhu(CSCC)
It was CSCC’s first premier game of the season. It was a nice sunny day, ideal for a game of cricket. CSCC won the toss and elected to bat. DCC had a dream start with DCC’s opener Santosh getting caught in the slips the first over. Kervyn remained positive and scored a few boundaries helping the team maintain good run rate before getting out at 49 in the 13th over, missing out on a well deserved 50. Chandran and Narayan put together one of the best partnerships of the club that exceeded 100 runs. Narayan scored a 50 and got out trying to accelerate towards the end of the innings in the 35th over. Chandran displayed immaculate batting skills that was nothing but classy. He scored his maiden century in CCL and helped CSCC reach an impressive total of 254 for the loss of 6 wickets.
With a target of 255, DCC’s top order batsmen had a bad day, while CSCC’s bowler Prasanna put together an impressive spell picking up 2 wickets in his first spell. Manjinder, Dhruv, and Sanket gave a good fight with scores of 23, 21 and 37 respectively, but CSCC’s Narayan was relentless with his bowling and picked up 5 wickets at regular intervals ensuring DCC did not have any long partnerships. DCC was all out for 119 in the 27th over.
Man of the Match: Chandran Thangaraj and Narayan Madabusi for his magnificent century; and for his fifty and 5 wicket haul respectively, and for their overall 128 run partnership.

CCCC @ FCCC: P40 - 9am Saturday May 4th 2019 at Boltz, Fort Collins - Reported by Naveen Kumar(FCCC)
FCCC won the toss and decided to bowl first. CCCC had a very slow start against some tight bowling from FCCC opening bowlers and eventually kept losing their wickets on time to time basis. Only Sandeep and Mike stood firm to provide CCCC a slow but steady partnership which was very much needed at that point. Sandeep was the highest scorer for CCCC with 48 runs from 61 balls. Thushara provided the much-needed acceleration for CCCC at the end with a quick fire 25 runs from 17 balls. CCCC reached a respectable score of 151 considering where they were at the beginning of their innings. Naveen bowled really well picking up the crucial wickets of Sandeep and Thushara and ended up with the bowling figures of 8-1-20-2. Amit Thakar, Omar, and Ravi Sharma bowled good spell as well to take 1 wicket each.
FCCC got off to decent start through their top 3 batsmen Sagar, Tejas and Harsha getting a 50 run partnership combined before getting out. CCCC made a start comeback by picking up 3 quick wickets including the wickets of Harsha and Darshan, along with Sagar retiring hurt because of cramps. Naveen and Omar had a very nice match-winning batting partnership between them with Omar being the more aggressive batsmen of the 2. Omar was the top scorer for FCCC with 44 runs from 37 balls and Naveen scored a steady 32 runs from 55 balls. FCCC chased down the target in the 29th over.
Man of the Match: Naveen Kumar KP for his all-round performance, bowling figures of 8-1-20-2 and 32 runs while batting.

CCB @ FRCC: Premier - 10am Sunday May 5, 2019 at Lower Garden Acres, Longmont - Reported by Manohar Karthikeyan(FRCC)
It was a perfect day for a 40-over game. CCB won the toss and elected to bat without any hesitation.
CCB started off with Manjeet and Preetham. Subhashish started the proceedings for FRCC. After a few dots in the first over, Manjeet started with a six over midwicket. Preetham on the other side started off with a four but Rohit came strong to get Preetham in the 4th ball of the second over. Then came in-form Venkatesh who hit few boundaries before playing a full toss ball directly to the safe hands of Rajesh. CCB’s captain Kamal walked in next who was taking singles but on the other end Manjeet was hitting huge sixes. FRCC fielders didn’t help cause as Manjeet was dropped twice. FRCC captain Sumeet got Anuj the leggie into the attack who gave the breakthrough straight away by picking Kamal. This didn’t stop Manjeet and he was 90(49 balls) in no time. Shivraj finally got Manjeet, which took some catching by Shiril . Shivraj’s pace got Prashanth bowled. Satyam played well hitting the bad balls to boundary and taking singles of the good balls. Vaibhav picked his first premier wicket by removing Rajesh Rathod. Rohit then removed Kanaraj as he tried to accelerate. A combination of the brilliant catch from Shivraj who perfectly timed his jump and a slower ball from Rohit got Satyam. Rohit got Suri of the final ball of his spell. Rohit ended with 5 wickets which helped restrict CCB to 241. At one time it looked, CCB would reach 300 but FRCC came back strong to restrict them.
FRCC started the chase with Sumeet and Vivek. Sumeet was hitting sixes for fun as he ended with 35 in just 11 balls. After Sumeet, Vivek carried on the momentum and FRCC reached 50 in just 4 overs. Viveks’ six over cover was delight to the eyes, Preetham came into the attack and removed Vivek. Rajesh and Gandhar played sensibly. Rajesh was hitting boundaries every other over to keep the run rate going. Unfortunately, Gandhar was run out which got in the dangerous Subhashish who along with Rajesh was hitting the spinners all over the ground. FRCC got the game under control by then. Rajesh got to a well-made 50 before getting out of Suri. Rohit hit some huge sixes to bring the required runs within reach. Shivraj finished it off in style for FRCC by hitting a six of Kamal.
Man of the Match: Rohit Saini for his superb effort with both bat (28) and ball (8-2-33-5).

LCC-Panthers @ DDCC: Twenty20 – 3:00 pm Saturday May 04, 2019 at Green Valley Ranch - Reported by Rakesh Nalla(DDCC)
The match between DDCC and LCC-Panthers started at 3.05 pm in Green Valley Ranch ground. DDCC won the toss and elected to Bat first. DDCC got off to a bad start losing opener Prajay early in the 2nd over trapped LBW by Sudiptha for 1. Varun got in and tried to build a partnership with Naresh. In that process Vaibhav dismissed Naresh with a slower ball when DDCC were at 18 at the end of 4 overs. Venkatesh came in and was explosive from the start, hitting 4 sixes of Gokul. Varun played steady innings at the other end hitting loose balls for boundaries. Venkatesh attempting another slog fell to Eugene caught at the ropes. Venkatesh scored 39 off 15 balls. Suri L came in and supported Varun ad the scoreboard started ticking. Both batsmen ran well between the wickets and hit occasional boundaries. DDCC were rolling at 117 in 15th over. Suri L(19) and Varun(47) were dismissed by the end of 16th over. Then came Suri D with his cameo innings. DDCC were 133 for 7 at the end of 17th over. Thanks to Suri D for his 32 off 16 balls, DDCC set a target of 174 for Panthers to chase. Eugene was pick among the bowlers with 4 wickets.
LCC-Panthers started off cautiously as their captain Ben fell to in-swinging ball from Suri L for 1. Eugene started counter attacking swing by swinging his bat. His partnership with Vaibhav was threatening to take over the match as they scored 70 at the end of 8 overs. Bhanu was introduced to bowl in 9th over and he made an immediate impact by dismissing Vaibhav for 9. Raghu from Panthers came in and stayed for a brief period. At half way point, Panthers needed 96 runs in 10 overs. Eugene and Thomas took the score to 120 at the end of 15 overs needing 56 runs in 5 overs. In an attempt to increase the scoring rate, Eugene was caught at the boundary scoring a superb knock of 87 from 53 balls. Panthers lost all the momentum and were all out at the end of 20 overs. They fell short of the total by 33 runs. CVS, Bhanu and Srinath were pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets each.
With his 4 wickets and 87 runs, Eugene was declared Man of the match even though he was on the losing side.
Man of the Match: Eugene O`Brien for his all-round performance. In batting, he scored 87 runs in 53 balls and bowling (4-0-35-4).

MHCC @ CSCC-RisingStars: Twenty20, May 4th 2019 at 2 PM at Memorial Park Rose Bowl Ground - Reported by Asdeep Singh(CSCC-RS)
A perfect day to play and enjoy cricket when the day is sunny and minimal wind is blowing. MHCC won the toss and elected to bowl first. Rao and Piyush opened the inning from CSCC-RisingStars side. Rao hit the first ball for a six to show the dominance in the game. Another boundary was hit to keep the same momentum going, though it did not last long as a yorker from Shiva had taken Rao’s wicket. Asdeep started his inning by coming on one down. Asdeep and Piyush built a very strong partnership of 90+ runs to bring CSCC-RisingStars in a great position. Piyush got caught behind the wickets on 43 runs. Slow outfield made the CSCC-RisingStars players put some extra effort to squeeze runs. Saubik built another good partnership of 40 runs with Asdeep and scored 25 runs. Three continuous loss of wickets for CSCC-RisingStars halted the momentum. Asdeep scored his maiden half-century and highest runs for CSCC-RisingStars with his 53; and gave a target of 156 runs to the opposition.
MHCC had a slow start and early fall of wickets. Since beginning CSCC-RisingStars bowlers were aggressive in their bowling. Rahul Sharma’s exception swings did not allow any partnership to build. Whenever a partnership was brewing between MHCC players, Rahul and Akhil were proved handy to break it up. Akhil’s spell of 2-1-3-2 put MHCC is much trouble. None of the batsmen from MHCC side could cross 15 + mark whereas highest score by Varun 14, followed by 12 by Saketh. Rest all the batsmen from MHCC were out in single digits. MHCC lost all its wickets in 15 overs.
CSCC-RisingStars won the match by 97 Runs.
Man of the Match: Rahul Sharma for his awesome bowling figures of 4-1-10-5 and his first 5 wicket haul in CCL for CSCC-RisingStars.
