Twenty20 Div 2 Match Reports - Week 3 (15-16 Apr 2023)

Mile High CC @ Colorado Yorkers: T20 – 2:00 PM Sunday April 16th , 2023 at Cornerstone - Reported by Raj Manikavasagam(MHCC)

It was a beautiful bright Saturday afternoon with great weather. Both teams and umpires arrived on time for the toss, Colorado Yorkers won the toss and elected to bat first. Vijay Ganapathy and Sudhir Peri stitched together a fantastic partnership, with Vijay scoring 25 runs off 28 balls and Sudhir Peri playing a brilliant knock of 45 off 40 balls. However, their partnership was broken by Saketh, who took 3 crucial wickets. After the dismissal of Vijay and Sudhir, Shankaar Asta scored 18 runs off 17 balls and gave MCC a target of 141 runs.

On the bowling front, Saketh bowled a brilliant spell, taking three crucial wickets, and Varun took one wicket. Despite CY valiant effort, MCC managed to restrict them to a manageable total.

MCC started their batting but lost an early wicket of Ayazul Islam in the first over. However, Puviyarasun Pugazhanthi and Nicheal Immanuel took charge and made a sensational partnership of 140 runs, stunning the opposition. Both stayed unbeaten and made sure that MCC chased down the target in just 16 overs. On the bowling front, CY’s Naz Huda
take one wicket, but it wasn't enough to stop MCC's powerhouse batting.

I would like to appreciate Ben Powell and Peter Lovell for their good umpiring.

Player of the Match: Puviyarasun Pugazhanthi for his whirlwind innings of 63 of just 45 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

BRCC @ KCC: Division 2 Twenty20 - 10am Sunday April 16th 2023 at Memorial Park Critirium, Colorado Springs - Reported by Lakshmiprasad Nagalapati(KCC)

Knights Cricket Club has won the toss and elected to bowl first. From Broncos CC openers were Irfan Modi and Zameer Syed, both couldn’t get going because of fiery start from Sandeep Lambu. Irfan became run out to Bhargav’s direct hit, Sami Syed came into crease showing positive intent and started to score right away but knights bowlers were too good in the powerplay. Zameer Sayed got bowled to Sandeep Lambu, Hafeez Mohammad came to crease, and they had a small partnership of
37 runs and unfortunately BRCC lost Hafeez Wicket to Komal Babu S. Shihab Morshed comes to crease, Shihab and Sami had a good partnership of 37 runs but couldn’t get it going all the way and BRCC lost Sami’s wicket to Darshan Ganapathi. Joseph is their next batsmen and partnership between joseph and Shihab could not get going as Shihab got bowled for Puneeth’s unplayable delivery, right
after next ball BRCC lost Saad khan’s wicket for an LBW. After that Joseph and Rajasekhar has batted beautifully with the right intent to take their team forward and added 45 runs to their partnership, after that Rajasekhar got bowled to Komal Babu S. BRCC had a quick 17 run partnership for 8 th and set an total of 163 for knights cricket club to chase.

Highlights of first Innings were the knocks from Joseph Oruganti who scored unbeaten 41 runs from 28 balls, Sami Syed scored 37 runs and Shihab Morshed scored 26 runs from just 13 balls. Both Puneeth and Komal S got 2 wickets, Sandeep and Darshan shared each 1 wicket.

Being first time chasing in CCL, Knights were confident to chase this comfortably, but the chase had lots of twists and turns. Harsha Thatikonda and Bhargav Muvva were Knights Openers and
unluckily Harsha got out to a full toss ball in Sami Syed bowling. Srikanth Ponnam was our 1 st down batsmen and partnership between Bhargav and Srikanth was the highest in the game and that has set
platform for knights’ team to chase the score, after adding 52 runs to the partnership KCC lost Srikanth to a single handed unbelievable catch on mid-off by Sami S. Puneeth Mahadeviah is our next
batsmen and he has got quick start and got out LBW to Rajasekhar for just 11 runs from 6 balls.

Dikshith Reddy Comes into crease and KCC badly needs a partnership here, but that did not happen since we lost back-to-back wickets in a single over bowled by Nazeem S. After that Lakshmi prasad and Sandeep batted beautifully and added 30 runs to the partnership and Sandeep got run out, Niranjan Kotha comes to crease and assisted his captain good by not giving away wicket, Lakshmi and Niranjan added 42 runs to their partnership and took the game away from Broncos Cricket Club.

Highlights of Second Innings were the knocks from Lakshmiprasad Nagalapati who scored 60 runs from 32 balls and Bhargav Muvva scored 28 runs. Good bowling efforts from Nazeem for 4-0-26-2, Zameer, Sami S, and Rajasekhar shared each one wicket.

DYCA vs CSCC Patriots, Division 2 - Twenty 20, 2 PM Sunday April 16th 2023, Memorial Park Critirium Cricket ground, Colorado Springs - Reported by Senthil Selvaraj(CSCC-P)

DYCA won the toss and elected to bat.

CSCC-Patriots opening bowlers started the innings with some tight line and length, which lead to early wickets with Anirudh taking a very good catch in the 1st slip for the first wicket. Aarav Murthy came in 1st down and played some eye-catching shots. The punch right in front of the wicket was textbook and class written all over it, the DYCA batsmen were technically sound trying to counter the swing and pace. With more consistency and pressure Karthick R picked up the first 3 wickets for the Patriots finishing with 3/19. With the first change bowlers not giving much away the DYCA could not get going with their innings, Gurdeep picked up two more wickets with figures 2/10. Ryan Austin was trying to rebuild the innings and players few shots and eventually got out for 19 from the bowling of Prasanna who ended up with figures 2/6 in 3 overs.

The DYCA found hard to put together a good partnership as they were losing wicket with regular intervals. Mrinal in lower order scored 13 of 18 balls, Arvind the final change bowler who eventually went on to get the

Patriots were good but could have restricted to much lower total of 84/10 if not for the 24 wide’s.

DYCA had a huge task to defend the total of 84, but Patriots began the change briskly with Gurdeep and Anirudh scoring 14 runs in the first started the chase. The Extras conceded also did not favor the bowling team.

Sriram Jayanti got the patriots opener Gurdeep out for 9 runs. Ryan Austin bowled with some good control and picked up the wicket of Zeeshan for 17 runs. Rohit Thakur picked up the 3rd the wicket for the DYCA.

Patriots did not slip the game away as Nishanth and Anirudh completed the chase in 11.3 overs finishing with unbeaten scores of 11 and 21, respectively.

Player of the Match: Aravind (CSCC-Patriots) for his 3/15, 7 Runs and a catch.

CSCC-Stripes @ Littleton CC - Panthers: DIVISION 2 - Twenty20: 10:00 AM Sunday April 16th 2023, at Cornerstone Park, Littleton – Reported by Vinod Reddy Linga(CSCC)

Littleton CC - Panthers won the toss and choose to bat.

Kit and Nikin comes to the crease as openers and Nagarajan comes to attack. Kit started the innings with two long on sixes from Nagarajan first over and finish off with 14 runs. From second over first delivery from Rajadurai, Kit played to towards point but it was taken by point fielder (Selvam) which bounced from his hand but managed in the second attempt and sends back to the dugout. Nayab comes to the crease to face the second delivery from Rajadurai which to played to extra covers miss judged from fielder dropped the catch and goes to boundary and completed the over with 9runs.Panthers were 64/1, after the power play. Nayab scored 35(19) and Nikin scored 11(12).Nayab scored most of the runs from fast bowlers.

After the power play, experienced medium slow pace bowler (Selvam) and Medium fast bowler (Ranjith) comes into attack from both the ends. Last delivery of 9th over from Selvam bowled to Nayab, step to off side and tries to play deep square leg but completed missed the ball and got bowled. Also scored 52(31). By the end of first ten overs Panthers where on top and scored 93/2, at the crease Nikin 20(20) and Vijay 2(5).

Unfortunately Panthers' middle order unable to score runs stripes slow bowlers. 8 overs from slow bowlers Rajesh, Prasath and Selvam, Panthers were able to score only 34 runs in 48 balls. After 18 overs Panthers were 127/6, in last three overs Hemanth and Ben managed to hit couple of boundaries and finished the innings with 148/6.
What a great come back from Stripes, Restricted panthers only 55 runs in the next ten overs. A great spells from Rajesh (4 - 0 - 24 -1), Selvam (4 - 0 -19 - 2) and Prasath (3-0-17-0).

Stripes need 149 runs in 120 balls to win.
Alagar and Vinod comes to crease and Raj from panthers comes to attack. Raj provides first break through to panthers by his second delivery and bowled Alagar who tried to play cross bat shot and missed. Rajesh came into crease and played two beautiful cover drivers to boundaries.
Stripes scored 38 runs in 6 overs and lost 1 wicket, a slow start from stripes managed to score 68/2 in the first ten overs. In next ten overs stripes needs 81 runs and required run rate is 8.1
Overs 11 to 15 stripes batsmen able score only 32 runs. For the last five overs stripes need 49 runs with 30 balls where required run rate is 10. Prasath and Vinod scored 40 runs in 18 balls wins match with 7 wickets remaining and 10 balls remaining.
A first fifty partnership between Prasath and Vinod which lead stripes to victory.

Overall, It a great performance from stripes to watch. The way pulled back innings with bat and ball is incredible. I hope this intent would carry forwarded for upcoming match as well. Personally, the way stripes bowlers come back and bowled well in the middle and death overs, not allowing the batting team to score freely and also bowled a lot of dot bowls in the middle overs which built pressure on the batting team. The bowling from stripes done an excellent job of containing the oppositions scoring rate in the middle and death overs. Good bowling changes from stripes captain, by bringing slower bowlers, variations in pace and taking wickets regularly, put pressure on the batting side, making it harder for them to score runs in the last ten overs.

Player of the Match: Vinod Reddy Linga. It has to be this man for the chase! Vinod for his exceptional performance with the bat leading his team to victory with his skillful and powerful cricketing strokes. Not only did he show great skill and determination, but he also demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and leadership qualities. He kept his cool under pressure and motivated his team to give their best on the field. Congrats to him on becoming the Playerof the Match. Many more to come for CSCC this season.

FCCC-B @ FRCC-Legends : Twenty20, Saturday April 15, 2023 at Boltz Middle School, Ft Collins - Reported by Ravi Sharma(FCCC)

FCCC-B won the toss, and contrary to conventional wisdom, chose to bat on a cold, windy, and partially cloudy afternoon. That decision seemed questionable when they lost Rakshith Kumar very early to Hitesh Satelli, but his fellow opener Tejas Tank combined well with Aniruddha Savargaokar and took FCCC-B deep into their inning without any further loss. Tejas scored a swashbuckling 74 off 56 deliveries (8 fours, 2 sixes), and Aniruddha supported him well with 34 off 33 deliveries (three fours, 1 six). Rakha Kanumuri and Ravi Sharma then provided some late impetus to take FCCC-B to a very competitive score of 155. For FRCC-Legends, Hitesh bowled extremely well, and ended up with impressive figures of 4-0-11-2. Praveen Narayan, though going wicketless, also impressed with his controlled leg spin.

Targeting 156, FRCC-Legend’s chase never got off the ground. Venkata Rallapalli was unfortunate enough to be run-out on a no-ball without facing a single delivery, and fellow opener Maulik Kadia also fell for a duck in the very first over itself. None of the batsmen that followed were able to get too comfortable either, and by the time the drinks-break came, FRCC-L were already down eight wickets with only 38 runs on the board. Post break, Prasana Ravindran and Hitesh played sensibly, showing some deft touches as well as some power-hitting when the opportunities presented themselves. They managed a 60 runs partnership at a respectable pace, but the result of the game was never in doubt, and FRCC-L wrapped up their inning at 102/9, handing FCCC-B a comfortable 53 runs win. Yugal Singham was the leading bowler for FCCC-B (4-0-15-3), well supported by Ayushya Chauhan (2 wkts), Manjinder Singh, and Dheeraj Pulijala (wicket each). For FRCC-L, Hitesh (30* off 30 balls) and Prasana (20 of 27 balls) were the ones carrying the flag.

Player of the Match: Tejas Tank For his boundary laced inning, which put his team in a commanding position right from the start.
