FCCC @ DC: Premier – 10:15am Saturday July 15, 2023 at Memorial Park, Rosebowl, Colorado Springs - Reported by Ayushya Chauhan(FCCC)

In their first of P40 round 2 match between FCCC and DC, FCCC emerged victorious after DC elected to bowl first. DC's opening bowlers Rajesh and Himanshu took early wickets and FCCC had a weak opening start with both the opening batsman getting out in first two overs. Saurabh and captain Naveen KP built a small partnership for third wicket. Wickets kept on falling continuously and FCCC were 41/4 by the end of first 10 overs. New batsman Abhinav and Naveen KP gave the team the partnership needed and stabilized the score and gave the team a chance to put a respectable total. They both put up a partnership of 71 runs with a great pace. DC made a break though by taking the wicket of Abhinav(36). The star batsman of team Darshan came in at the point when 10 overs were left and he started playing glorious shots all around the ground. Naveen also started to get into the grove and hit few beautiful sixes over the covers to rapidly increase the score of the team and with the contribution of the finisher Trevon and Suprabath the team reached a total of 197/10 at the end of 40 overs. DC’s bowlers did a great job keeping the total down to 198 and gave their team a chance to win the game. At the end of first innings the match was pretty balanced and anyone could win at this point. But the weather had other plans, Thunderstorm hit the ground suddenly and it rained heavily and after a while sun was out again.

DC’s batting started after the break and their openers Jesrun and Namburi gave the team a quick start by hitting fours and sixes, attacking the bowlers of FCCC giving them no chance to settle their line and length. An important catch of Jesrun was dropped before he started scoring, after which he went and score a quick 16 run. Opening bowlers Eshwar and Suprabath were able to dismiss the batsman even after getting scored rapidly. DC team kept on scoring quick runs but FCCC kept on taking wickets in quick succession to make it difficult for the other team. After the end of 14 overs the team was 80/5 with the main batsman out already. But the DC’s batsman Jishath and Rajesh built a great partnership and kept the their team in the game. FCCC bowlers kept the overs neat and tidy and didn’t overflow runs. Mike Riley and Abhinav from FCCC with their spin attack kept the pressure on for the batting team and took wickets to finish the innings and getting the team all out at 153/10 at the end of 32.5 overs. FCCC won the match very comfortably by taking wickets in regular interval and collected points for the win. The match was won by FCCC by 44 runs.

DDCC @ NCCA: Premier Round 2 09:45AM Sunday, July 16th, 2023, at Lower Garden Acres Cricket Ground (Longmont) - Reported by Vamshi Krishna Karne(DDCC)

It was the second match of premier round 2 for DDCC against NCCA. NCCA won the toss and elected to bat first. Both the teams were so eager to have those two points. Match started a little bit late at 9:45am because of the sprinklers on the ground. NCCA shows up with their two strong openers Satyanarayana and Bharat. NCCA started to have a good opening partnership of 56. With remarkable skill and composure, Surender Reddy Dhodla secured two quick wickets for DDCC. The first wicket was a result of his exceptional presence of mind as he executed a run-out to dismiss Satyanarayana. The second wicket came through his superb bowling skills, as he cleanly got Bharat for a stump. Following Surender Reddy Dhodla's impressive performance, Kanag, backed by his bowling expertise, entered the game. He skillfully dismissed Sreesh Sattiyamourthy with the assistance of Swaroop, who executed a brilliant catch at long-off. Continuing the team's impressive display, Abhishek and Vamshi each contributed with a wicket. Abhishek delivered an excellent bowl that left Mudabbiruddin Syed no chance. On the other hand, Vamshi displayed excellent bowling skills to dismiss Das. Jathin showcased his remarkable bowling skills by claiming the wickets of both Sudarshan and Praveen Rao, who were attempting to get their team back on track. With precision and accuracy, Jathin left no scope for them to score runs. Surender Reddy Dhodla and Kanag continued to display their exceptional bowling prowess, taking two quick wickets each. Surender Reddy Dhodla dismissed Sarvesh, while Kanag accounted for Ram Subramani. Adding to the impressive performance, Jathin's brilliant run-out of Srijeet further contributed to NCCA's downfall. With these outstanding efforts, DDCC successfully bowled out NCCA for a total of 179 runs.

The DDCC started their chase requiring 180 runs in 40 overs. Openers Sandeep and Captain Naresh had a decent start. Naresh played some great shorts before he got dismissed for 9 runs for a keeper catch for Das Reddy. Varun Konka came in and showed some good intent before he nicked one for the keeper to Satyanarayana. Satyanarayana continued some brilliant bowling and got Harsha for 9 runs. Then NCAA tried to get back into the game by picking up 3 quick wickets in no time which pushed DDCC into back seat with 86-6 chasing 180. In this chois on the other end Abhishek played an aggressive knock with 5 sixes and kept DDCC in the hunt. NCAA tried to get back to the game by picking Abhishek wicket, but Kanag and Surender Reddy Dhodla played beautifully and had a 62 runs partnership in which Kanag scored 40 runs off 40 balls with fours 4's and 2 Sixes. Kanag dismissed at 173 and then Surender Reddy Dhodla finished the game calmly with his six over deep square leg. DDCC won the game by 2 wickets.

Player of the Match: Kanagaraj Thimmarayan for his beautiful bowling picking up 2 wickets, and batting of 40 runs of 40 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

LCC-Lightning @ CSCC-Giants: Premier : 9:00 AM Saturday, July 15th,2023, at Cornerstone Park, Littleton – Reported by Guru Nishok(CSCC)

Cornerstone Park received us with a cool breeze brushing through the lush green patches of grass. The conditions looked bright and shiny as both the teams finished warming up their muscles for the clash. Narander and Mayank officiated the game where the coin flipped in favor of the CSCC-Giants captain Karthick Ragunath. Confidently, the skipper opted to bowl first asking the home team captain Sam and his folks to bat first.

Demolition Derby Dominance Ranjith and Nishok had the new ball. The left right duo, Sam and Sakthivel walked in confidently. Both of the Giants’ bowlers looked confident from ball one. Ranjith was brining his experience in with the ball which set the tone for the rest of the innings. Nishok gave the first breakthrough that the CSCC-Giants wanted. He removed the keeper batsmen Sakthivel for 4(8) caught behind by Sachith. Ranjith unleashed his A game and dismissed the captain of LCC-Lightning for 6(14) as bowled. In the same over, Gowtham was sent back for 4(19) brilliantly caught by Viswa at first slip. Truly, calm and composed catching from him. Once the initial wickets fell, CSCC-Giants capitalized the situation and attacked the batting unit of LCC-Lightning. In this process, Nishok got Ramesh Menon for 1(6) caught at gully by Gurdeep. Manish also fell to Nishok for 3(6) caught behind by Sachith. At the end of 11 overs, LCC-Lightning were 40-5.

Bowlers Unite, Innings sealed tight Losing half their side, LCC-Lightning only was Manoj in the middle. However, some sharp fielding from the Anirudh at short mid-wicket, got Chandrasekhar as run out for 5(6), neatly collected by Karthick to do the rest of proceedings. The bowlers were simply on fire, Karthick bowled a screamer to get Manoj 8(14) with 1 six as bowled. On the other end, Gurdeep was spinning the web to wrap things up for CSCC-Giants. He got Vijay for a duck caught behind by Sachith. Sudipta was playing some good cricketing shots. But then, as the leggie came in intelligent, he got him for 21(15) with 1 four and 1 six caught by Prasanna at Point. Likith managed to survive for a short time where he fell as a leg before wicket for 0(2).

Some tight bowling from CSCC-Giants bowling unit to restrict the LCC-Lightning for 77-10 at their home ground. Not to forget the absolute athleticism from the boys on the field who gave it all for the team. And how good was Sachith behind the stumps!! Treat to watch him keep.

Batting Brigade Soars Gaurav and Anirudh opened the batting for CSCC-Giants. Likith and Mahesh had the new ball, both known for getting the conventional swing for the right handers. Sam had the attacking field set, which did wonders. Gaurav went for 0(8) caught by Sam at first slip. A good set up ball by Mahesh. Anirudh looked very optimistic in his shots, which were played with much clarity and strength. Likith on the other end was tight with his lengths and he got Karthick for 2(5) caught again at first slip by Sam. Well, are low scoring games that tricky. Is there going to be a twist in the tale. Absolutely freaking no, said our Southpaw, Sachith. Be it blocking the initial deliveries to get his eyes in or attacking the bad balls he was always all in, staying on top of the bowlers. The spinners of LCC-Lightning came in only to get dispatched for raining boundaries. Both Anirudh and Sachith batted amazingly well to carry the team to the finish line scoring, 29*(36) with 3 fours and 33*(31) with 6 fours respectively.
This will be a special victory for CSCC-Giants as they dominated LCC-Lightning on their home ground putting them to bat first and wrapping them cheaply. Credits to all eleven for holding their nerves on the field and staying calm for the opponents to make the mistake. Truly a convincing win getting 2 important points in the Premier Round 2 format.

Player of the Match: Guru Nishok Radhakrishnan A good new ball bowling to remove crucial wickets of LCC-Lightning upfront in the innings. Could have been a little more restrictive on his extras though! But yeah, a convincing performance to get those important break throughs for his team. Thanks to his fellow mates for converting those chances to a wicket delivery. This will be his Second Man of the match in CCL. Many more savvy performances to come from him for Colorado Springs Cricket Club. Congrats Nishok!
