Premier Match Reports - Week 19 (5-6 Aug 2023)

RCC- Hawks @ CCCC-Anchors : T20 – 9:00AM Sunday August 6th, 2023, at Lower Garden Acres Cricket Ground (Longmont) - Reported by Kaushik Anand Natarajan(RCC-Hawks)

A chilly Colorado morning, with no sun in vicinity at the Lower Garden Acres Cricket Ground in Longmont. CCCC-Anchors won the toss and elected to bat first. Overcast conditions meant RCC Hawks felt they got the right opportunity to bowl first. Rishi Rawat started the proceedings for RCC-Hawks (RCC-H) bowling. Rishi stuck in his first over with a terrific delivery to get Sudarshan Sivaraman out. The ball seam just enough to clip the edge off the bat in 2nd ball of the match. Anchors tried to raise the scoring rate and couldn’t get partnerships going their way. Bharat Kotla was next to get out of a length delivery from Sandeep Srigiri which was hit straight to mid off fielder RCC-H captain Ravi Bhagavathi.

Anchors kept loosing wickets on 20-30 runs gap with some tight bowling from RCC-H bowlers. Jaffar Mohammed and Kaushik Anand Natarajan bowled some crucial overs while big hitters were on crease and were able to support the fast bowlers. Chetan Birthare and Siva Shankar Suresh bowled their 2nd spell with good accuracy while Rishi was best of the RCC-H bowlers with stats of
4-0-11-19-2.

Shah Nawaz and Mudabbiruddin Syed stitched a 26 runs partnership but Shah Nawaz got out after trying to score with some good attacking shots. Muddabbir played a real anchors role trying to keep one end really tight while wickets kept falling at other end in regular intervals. Muddabbir completed a well compiled half century and scored 63 runs off 52 balls. Atif Williams, Das Reddy Thumma and Sudeep Biswal (Anchors Captain) couldn’t convert the starts they got and RCC-H really bowled well between 12 to 18 overs to bring scoring rate down. Sameed Abdul played a handy cameo to propel Anchors score to 149 runs in 20 overs for RCC-Hawks to chase down.

RCC-Hawks who have not been good batting form in past several games were looking to turn things around. With Deva Sahadevan missing out being their top batter, it was an opportunity for Aman Jain to step up and turn the fortunes around for the team. Ravi and Aman had a dream partnership at the top with well constructed shots. Some classic shots were played by both batsmen and hardly any chances were given to Anchors to get their wickets. Sudeep Biswal bowled some terrific deliveries to beat the bat of both batsmen, who otherwise looked in good space. Majestic six of point boundary from Ravi and a straight loft over long off from Aman were treat to watch. RCC-H were cruising at the half way mark with 10 overs 88/0.

Aman got out to a good raising delivery from Shah Nawaz after scoring 43 runs of 35 balls which is his career best till now and many more to come. With run a ball equation needed, Jaffar joined Ravi in the middle. Jaffar supported Ravi well with some positive shots and good running between the wickets. Ravi toiled with the bowling while he played good drives and lofts. Ravi made his career best T20 score in this innings with 78 runs off 47 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Ravi ensured he finished the game for RCC-Hawks and so did he with a classic long off six off a free hit in the 17th over.

Player of the Match: Ravi Bhagavathi for his stellar batting performance with bat- 78runs off 47 balls.

Scorecard: See RCC-Hawks Vs CCCC-Anchors.
