CSCC-Patriots @ Knights CC: DIVISION 2 - Twenty20: 1:00 PM Sunday August 13th,2023, at Criterium Cricket Ground – Reported by Senthil Selvaraj(CSCC)

Important Game for the Patriots as they wanted to Keep their top 4 aspirations alive and Knights wanted to maintain their No.1 position in the table.

Lucky with the toss and good power play bowling and catching by Patriots It was a windy day in field which was going to be challenging for the batsman and the bowlers. The Patriots won the toss and elected to bowl first. Opening bowlers Senthil and Samson Gill started very well keeping it tight and not giving away anything for the Knights batsman. Opening batsman for the Knights Satish Pendota played a very good shot over the backward point for a four in the 1st ball of 3rd over but was out in the 3rd ball of the same over with a very good catch from the patriots Wicket keeper Guru Prasad diving to his right. Samson Gill picked up the Second wicket of Bargav which with the sharp catch at first slip by Aravind S. Senthil picked up his second wicket in the 5th over which was again a very well-judged catch by Charan given the windy conditions. Puneet from KCC tried to counterattack the bowling with few good shots but got a brilliant in swinging delivery from Karthik Ragunath. Knights CC was in the backfoot loosing 4 wickets in the power play.

Limiting the boundaries and damage control for KCC Loosing 4 wickets in the power play Knights CC Needed some good partnership to put on a good total to defend. Karthik Murugan (1/17 in 4 overs) coming into the attack picked up the other opening batsman Rajesh Nalluri with leaping and well-judged catch by Karthik Ragunthan. KCC Captain Laxmi was in the crease too early than to his liking in the 7th over of the game. Dikshith Reddy and Laxmiprasad played some controlled shots and sensibly rotated the strike to keep the scoreboard ticket. Meanwhile the Patriots bowlers were disciplined in their line and length controlling the boundaries backed up with good fielding . Patriots All rounder Nishanth Reddy gave a crucial breakthrough by picking up the wicket of Dikshith 17(13) who was looking really good with this bat. Lakshmi played a beautiful cover drive for a boundary in the 15th over. KCC were 67/6 with the end of 15th over, which was meant to be Patriots session till then.

Double Break and end of innings KCC wanted to finish their innings in a high note to put on a defendable target. KCC scored 8 runs of the 17th over and planned to increase the scoring rate, the patriots captain bought back the patriots strike bowler Samson Gill who gave a double break in the 18th over which put a brake in KCC momentum of which one was the knights captain Laxmi for 30(33). Charan and Karthick R bowled a good 19th and 20th over giving away 5 runs in each over. KCC finished the 20 over with the score of 95/9

Steady opening partnership . Sandeep Lambu the opening pacer from KCC would have loved to give immediate strikes to give a moral boost for their team. Charan played a very good punch for a single which would have given him some confidence coming off a lean patch over the past games. With heavy winds it was not easy for the batsman to go for their shots with the ball moving a lot in the air. The In-form Patriots batsman Prasanna 38*(42) played sensible shots to rotate the strike along with his partner. Charan 19(26) played couple beautiful shot for boundary one over the covers and other over deep mid wickets which was against the wind. Chasing the low target, the patriots were cautious not to loose any wickets given the good bowling by the Knights bowlers Sandeep and Dikshith. Patriots score 31 runs in the power play without losing any wickets.

Wicket and Another partnership to the win for Patriots Knights bowler Rama 2/22 (4 overs) got the first wicket for KCC picking the Patriots vice-captain Charan. The South Paw Aravind came into the crease with the patriots still needing 63 runs. Prasanna and Aravind 21(23) put on a 55-run partnership without taking risks by rotating the strike and scoring odd boundaries to keep the required rate under control. Rama picked up his second wicket with a well judged high catch by KCC fielder Puneeth. Patriots were needing 8 runs with the fall of second wicket . Hari Prasad came into the crease to get some playing time, the opening batsman Prasanna played a good shot for a boundary, and it was Victory for the Patriots!!

New Mexico United Cricket club(NMUCC) @ Littleton Cricket club Panthers (LCC) Panthers : Twenty20- D2 - 9am Sunday August 13th ,2023 at Memorial Park Rose bowl - Colorado Springs - Reported by Vishesh Umarania(NMUCC)

The weather was very windy with it blowing across the field this made NMUCC choose to bowl as they won the toss. LCC Panthers openers played the powerplay sensibly as they made 32 for 2 in it. Roshin Velutheri and Ahsan Bhatt exploited the conditions and took 4 wickets leaving the LCC panthers in shambles as they made 44/6 in 10 overs. This was far from the end for the panthers as an excellent lower order partnership by Raji Komireddy 22 of 25 balls and Ben Powell 21 of 30 balls brought back some life into their innings. This was all short lived as Roshin Velutheri came back in and wrapped them up. The Panthers were bowled out for 95 in 19.1 overs. Roshin Velutheri being the primary destroyer with 4 wickets and Ahsan Bhatt complimenting him with 2 wickets.

The total being timid the NMUCC openers just played casually as they made 34 for no loss in the powerplay. NMUCC were 44/1 at the 10 over mark. LCC were doing a good job holding down the run rate but that changed once the 2nd wicket fell as Vishesh Umarania came in and scored a quick 35 of 17 balls and finished the game in 16.4 overs. Aashish Janoria was the pick of the bowlers for LCC panthers taking 2 wickets.

Player of the Match: Roshin Velutheri for his 4 wickets that broke the LCC middle order.

Mile High Cricket club (MCC) @ New Mexico United Cricket club (NMUCC) : Twenty20 - D2 - 1:30pm Saturday August 12th at Memorial Park Rose bowl - Colorado Springs - reported by Vishesh Umarania(NMUCC)

With the sunlight piercing the clouds MCC won the toss and chose to bowl first. The NMUCC openers Dharmesh Bhakta and Saad Nasir started the innings carefully by scoring 39 runs for 1 wicket in the powerplay with Himashu Jaduan getting the early wicket of Saad Nasir. This prompted a batting collapse by NMUCC that was spearheaded by Himanshu’s direct run out of Dharmesh Bhakta who was going strong at 37 runs in 26 balls. The collapse was only halted by the innings break as NMUCC were down 5 wickets for 66 runs. After the break the demolition job was resumed by MCC as they got 2 more runs out and bowled economically until all of NMUCC’s batsmen fell in 18.5 overs making a pedestrian 97 in the process. MCC bowlers were excellent with Himashu Jaduan and Arunkumar Kumaravel picking up 2 wickets a piece and Kumaresan Pandiyan picking up 1 but even this was eclipsed by their fielding performance of 4 runouts.

With NMUCC’s back against the wall they walked into the second innings with resolve from their horrid first innings performance. The NMUCC openings bowlers restricted the MCC batsmen for 27 runs for 2 wickets in the powerplay. MCC still chipped away a good piece of the score with 41/4 in 10 overs. Unfortunately that all changed quickly as the NMUCC bowlers blew them away in 16.3 overs scoring only 60 runs. The NMUCC bowling unit was lethal as all the bowlers picked up wickets whilst being economical with Visheh Umarania picking up 3 wickets, Sikander Awan , Dharmesh Bhakta and Ahsan Bhatt picking up 2 wickets a piece and Roshin Velutheri picking up 1.

Player of the Match: Vishesh Umarania for his bowling figures of 3 overs 3 wickets giving 10 runs.

Scorecard: See MHCC Vs NMUCC Twenty20 Scorecard.

NMUCC @ CSCC-Stripes :Twenty20 - D2 - 9am Saturday August 12th , 2023 at Memorial park Rose bowl - Colorado springs - reported by Vishesh Umarania(NMUCC)

The weather was perfect with cool conditions and slight overcast. The toss was won by NMUCC and they elected to bowl first due to the overhead conditions. The Colorado Springs Stripes opened the innings tentatively but Sikander Awan was able to get the first breakthrough with an inswinging yorker. The early wicket did not deter the CSCC Stripes top order as Alagarsamy Arasu and Vinod Linga pair made 29 runs in the powerplay and their partnership was broken in the 9th over at 42 runs. This gave CSCC Stripes a great platform for a big total going into the break at 48/3 in 10 overs. The middle order was not able to click due to some disciplined bowling from NMUCC but Rajadurai Kumaran’s 26 of 15 balls and Prasath Neelakrishnan’s 21 of 15 balls brought the Stripes to a defendable total of 132/7 in 20 overs. All the NMUCC bowlers were relatively economical with Vishesh Umarania being the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 overs 3 wickets for 22 runs.

With a total in mind the NMUCC openers Dharmesh Bhakta and Saad Nasir started conservatively making 44 runs in the powerplay. This smooth sailing was short lived as Selvam Govindasamy got back to back wickets in his opening spell. This forced NMUCC to slow down as they finished 10 over for 58 runs with 3 wickets down. Saad Nasir was still going strong but Selvam Govindasamy got him for this 3rd wicket as Saad finished on 56 of 38 balls. The game was being pulled back by the stripes but Dinesh Reddy’s enterprising innings of 35 of 25 balls and Ahsan Bhatt’s 15 of 12 balls was able to take NMUCC to the total in 18.3 overs. The Stripes bowlers toiled hard with Selvam Govindasamy picking up 3 wickets in his 4 overs for 20 runs.

Player of the Match: Saad Nasir for his 56 runs in 38 balls that had 2 sixes and 5 boundaries.

Scorecard: See NMUCC @ CSCC-Stripes Twenty20 Scorecard.

FRCC- Legends @ RCC Hawks: T20, Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Cornerstone, Littleton - Reported by Ravi Bhagavathi(RCC)

Cricket lovers gathered for an exhilarating clash between two formidable teams, RCC Hawks and FRCC Legends.

Having won the toss, RCC Hawks chose to set the tempo by batting first. Their innings began explosively, with Aman's swift 25 runs off 16 balls. Ravi's early departure made way for Jaffar, who showcased impressive form. As Aman made his exit, Yuwi joined Jaffar, and together, they orchestrated a commendable partnership. Amidst the falling wickets, Kaushik's mature innings added stability with a contribution of 20 runs. The bowling prowess of Prasanna and Praveen formed a formidable alliance. Prasanna's economical spell earned him 2 wickets, conceding a mere 17 runs. Praveen, equally skilled, secured a wicket and yielded 24 runs. The likes of Manish and Pridhvi lent valuable support to the bowling effort. The finishing touch was masterfully applied by Chetan, who swiftly amassed 15 runs in just 8 balls, delivering a monumental six that soared beyond the long boundary. As the innings came to a close, RCC Hawks stood strong with a respectable total of 140 runs.

In response, FRCC stepped up to the challenge with determination. However, they faced a fierce onslaught from Rishi and Siva, who bowled with exceptional precision. While Md Shafquat managed 18 runs off 25 balls, the rest of the lineup crumbled under the onslaught. FRCC's innings concluded at 69 runs. Notably, Jaffar, Kaushik, and Ambar exhibited exceptional bowling, each securing 2 wickets.

b]Player of the Match: Jaffar Mohammed[/b] With remarkable contributions across all facets of the game, Jaffar was rightfully crowned the man of the match. His brilliant batting, outstanding fielding, and formidable bowling were pivotal in securing the victory for RCC Hawks.
