Finals
RSCC Vs SSCA Twenty20

SSCA beat RSCC to become the Div 2 TROPHY Champions!!

RSCC VS SSCA – 2:00 P.M. Sunday, Oct 9th, 2022, at Criterium Cricket Ground - Reported by Jesrun JC(SSCA)

It is the FINALS!!! The much-awaited game of the year in Division -2 T20...!!!

RSCC (Rising Stars Cricket Club) and SSCA (Southern Stags Cricket Association) were all set for an absolute cracker of a game. On one end, Rising Stars were looking stronger than ever as they played from strength to strength remaining undefeated in the T20 league and topping the charts, qualified by default to Division 1. On the other hand, Southern Stags were looking for an opportunity to settle scores as they lost their previous T20 encounter against RSCC by barest of the Margins (1 run). Both teams looked neck-to-neck on paper. It was time for the toss and luck favored SSCA and skipper Harish chose to bat without a second thought.

STAGS INNINGS
Jessy and Umesh came into bat with an intent to provide a good start to stags. Lakshmish got the new ball for RSCC. Jessy started off positively and scored runs in his style along with Umesh. Lakshmish was on point with swing and kept the ball moving. Stags scored 22 in 3 overs and looked in a good spot. Suresh Sharma got Jessy bowled with an amazing slower ball. Shiva Reddy came to the crease and continued his form from the eliminator game in the morning, hitting a boundary. Unfortunately, he got bowled in the same over by Lakshmish. Balaji came in to the crease but couldn’t stay long as he was caught by Raja off Suresh’s yet another slow delivery. Umesh continued to score on the other end without any distraction and kept the score board ticking along with Harish. Veteran spinner Tarun Chugh was brought into the attack and he picked up Harish’s wicket straight away as he was caught by Raja at long on. Umesh looked positive hitting a boundary, but he departed soon in Tarun’s next over as LBW. Big blows for stags as half the side was back in the pavilion for just 60 runs.

THE COMEBACK
Well, a game is never done until the last ball is bowled or the last wicket is taken. Stags are known for their Comebacks. Rajesh and Mayank played with the same intent and same spirit. Both kept scoring runs at a higher rate hitting boundaries every over along with milking singles and doubles. Mayank and Rajesh together had a partnership of 60 runs in just 5.5 overs. Mayank 33(2 fours and 1 six ) got out LBW by Varun P. Then came Shashi and proved that SSCA has a powerful middle order as well scoring 26 in just 13 balls supporting Rajesh’s death onslaught top scoring with 45 (35 balls , 4 fours and a six ). Rajesh was caught behind in Abhay’s bowling and brought in Naresh. Naresh and Shashi scored some quick runs in the end and put up a Huge total of 178/7 in 20 Overs.
RSCC ‘s DREAM START

Lakshmish Rao and Raja Pandi came to the crease with an intent to smack the ball no matter what. Laksmish looked like a beast hitting the ball with some sheer timing and power. Raja Pandi also supported him with some clean hits all over the park. There was no stopping them as they were smacking the ball ruthlessly. RSCC were 55/0 in 5 overs. It looked like the game would be finished in under 15 overs if the same continued for RSCC.

STAGS COMEBACK
Time and again Stags have proved their never day die attitude and always fought and pulled it back. This time it was Skipper Harish who got the breakthrough for stags as Lakshmish was finally caught in the deep mid-wicket by Balaji who took a well-judged catch close to the ropes. As they say, one gets two and so on. Harish trapped Vamsi plumb in front the very first ball he faced and it was a double strike for stags as harish dismissed both of the top scorers for RSCC. Raja continued the innings with his shots and RSCC were 86/2 in 8 overs. Umesh came into the attack and dismissed Kishore caught behind. Shiva came in and dismissed well set Raja in his very first ball. That’s it !! Stags were back in the game and their hopes were alive in the race for the Title.

THE FINISH
It was the last session, and everything boiled down to the equation for both the teams. 88 Runs to win for RSCC with 6 wickets in hand. Vice versa for Stags to defend the 88 or get the last 6 wickets. Karthik and Raj added 20 runs before was caught by Naresh by Umesh. Then came Varun Pandya who scored with a healthy strike rate hitting a beautiful cover drive for four. The equation came down to 51 required in 5 overs. Harish took the ball and produced an amazing over dismissing Karthick caught and bowled giving away just 5 runs. Rajesh cleaned up Manohar for a golden duck. Harish came back for his final over and got two quick wickets of Varun and Suresh completing his fifer and gave just one run. Naresh and Rajesh bowled the final overs and restricted the Rising stars to 161/9 in20 overs. Stags won the FINAL by 17 runs. Harish is the pick of the bowlers for his figures of 4-0-27-5.

Second Eliminator

SSCA beat MCC to enter the Finals with RSCC.

MCC VS SSCA – 9:30 A.M. Sunday, Oct 9th, 2022, at Criterium Cricket Ground - Reported by Jesrun Jc (SSCA)

Eliminator -2 In the T20 Division-2 Playoffs!! The sun started to shine bright, but the pitch and outfield still felt wet and slippery making the toss crucial for both the teams. MCC looked confident after winning the toss and chose to field to take advantage of the pitch conditions. Openers Harish and Balaji played positively getting 9 runs of the first over. Then came Himanshu and bowled a beautiful outswinger dismissing Balaji caught behind. In the same over Harish was dismissed for a surprising slower ball caught by Jaimin. Umesh and Shiva stuck to the crease and started rotating and scoring runs but unfortunately Umesh was declared out on a high full toss by Mohit which passed his shoulder and hit the stumps. It could have been a No-Ball if everyone were cognizant of the cricket laws. Naresh came to the crease but couldn’t score much as he got bowled by Mohit. Stags were in deep deep trouble in a decider game scoring just 34/4 in 8 overs. Fortunately, stags had Shiva Reddy on the other end who can turn the game on any given day. Rajesh came in and gave Shiva the right partnership he needed and Shiva along with Rajesh put in a game changing effort adding 57 runs to the fifth wicket. Rajesh was trapped on the pads by Manikandan and departed for a well-made 24 ( 2 fours). Shiva Reddy got back his rhythm and scored freely bringing up yet another half century. Whatta Playaaa!!! This man is just made for hitting the ball. Mayank supported on the other end and hit one over the ropes for six. He got bowled by Himanshu bringing Jessy to the crease. Jessy along with Shiva added 25 runs in just 2 overs with most of the runs coming in singles and doubles and taking the score par to 150. Shiva, Jessy, and Shashi got run out trying to sneak runs in the last over. Shiva Top scored for stags with 70(52 balls , 4 fours and 2 sixes). Himanshu was pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. Stags made a defendable 155/9 in 20 overs

MCC’s chase started with Openers Himanshu Jadaun and Akshat Shah. Himanshu played with an attacking intent and scored quick runs. Harish got the breakthrough for stags getting Akshat out for an LBW. In the following over, Naresh got Raj’s off stump for a walk with an amazing delivery. Nichele came in and played well along with Himanshu scoring runs and rotating the strike. Harish got Himanshu out courtesy a. nice catch by Naresh. Kumaresan came in and started to settle down but, Rajesh did not let him settle and picked his wicket caught by Harish in the deep. At the end of 10 overs MCC were 39/4 losing their main batsmen. Stags had completely tightened the game for MCC and from there MCC could not capitalize. Joseph picked up Varun’s wicket caught behind by Shashi. There on, Nichele and Bhaskaran tried scoring runs but their efforts went in vain as the game was long gone by then. However, Nichele completed his half century hitting a boundary at the last ball of the 20th over. Stags won the game by 46 runs and made it to the Finals of the Div 2 T20 Playoffs.

Man of the Match: Shiva Reddy for his heroic batting performance.

Div 2 PLATE Championship

ACC Vs CSCC-Stripes Twenty20 - Overall 5th Place

ACC beat CSCC-Stripes to be the Div 2 PLATE Champions.

ACC @ CSCC-Stripes: 2022 Twenty20 Division 2: League –1:30PM Sunday October 9th, 2022 at Lower Acre ground, Longmont - Reported by Sudeep Biswal(ACC)

All good things must come to an end, at least temporarily and this is the day the biggest party in sports puts a stop for the CCL season. Yes, it’s the plate league division 2 Finale. Coming to this season’s track record Anchors started the season with a bang winning first 3 matches in a row before slipping in the next 3 encounters but peaked at the right time but missed the super league stage because of the run rate. ACC finished off the league stage with 7wins and 4 losses where as CSCC-Stripes journey was like roller coaster and finished off the league with 5 win, 5 loss and 1 tie.

It was perfect setup for Finale with nice weather and quick outfield. ACC won the toss and elected to bat first. Sudarsan and Bharath started the inning and it was really some fiery over from Tristan initially but Anchors handled him well without giving much chance. Sudarsan got out without scoring a run in 2nd over. Bharath and Mantha want to stabilize the inning but Ranjit removed both of them and ACC were 24/3 at the end of powerplay. Muddabir and Suresh were at the crease and Suresh started hitting from ball one it looked like he was continuing the inning from last match. There were 2 big giant sixes which almost landed in the 21st Ave Road, Longmont. Suresh quickly moved to 33 in just 9 balls. Later on, CSCC- Stripes played a smart move by bringing spinners and medium pacers which slowed down the Anchors run rate and Suresh reached the half century in 23 balls. Muddabir supported him well to anchor the innings and got out at the score of 25 runs. It was good partnership in the end between Atif and Das where Atif scored quick 33 runs in 17 balls and Das got run out in the last ball of the innings at the score of 18. At the end Anchors ended up with 185/7 in 20 overs.

CSCC-Stripes need to go with 9 per an over to win the title. CSCC-Stripes openers started well with the bat but the runs are not coming in the required pace and end of powerplay CSCC-Stripes were 39/0. Later they accelerated the innings and they got couple of big overs of 15 runs each and all of a sudden, they reached 100/0 in 12th over. Then Suresh got a break through in 13th over where Alagarsamy got bowled at the score of 43 runs. There were really some tight overs between Muddabir and Suresh which make the RRR pilling. There was an artificial excitement where Vinod was hitting some long boundaries and catches getting dropped everywhere in the field but his innings got in Vain and at the end they ended up with 165/5 in 20 overs where Vinod was not out at 81* and pick up the bowler was Muddabir who picked up 3 crucial wickets. Suresh was awarded with man of the match for his brilliant all round performance.

Anchors is almost on the party mode. Anchors were the team that finished 5th and were underdogs all through, scraping their way through the league stage. It’s Amazing feeling, at the end of the tournament you need to get the momentum which we did. The title means a lot. It was a wonderful performance and we were deserving winners for plate league final. ACC didn’t rely on one or two players, at any stage people steeped up and done their job. It was great season for Anchors and they achieved this milestone because of pure team effort. It was just our 1st season and it was an amazing experience. We will look forward for next year.

Man of the Match: Suresh Draksharam for scoring 64 runs and picking up 2 wickets.

RCC Hawks @ CCCC Anchors: T20 Plate Semifinal – 1:30pm Saturday Oct 08, 2022 at LGA, Longmont - Reported by Vishwanath Mantha(CCCC Anchors)

CCCC Anchors won the toss and decided to field first. Ravi and Jaffar opened the innings for RCC and Das kicked off proceedings for Anchors. Ravi was out in the first over with Suri taking a good fast catch at midoff. Jaffar and Deva then batted well and took the score to 48 after 7 overs. Acnhors introduced spin via Vishwa in the 8th over and were able to get the breakthrough with Deva holing out to Sudeep. This brought Dikshith to the crease and he was fluent from the get go. At the halfway mark for the innings, RCC were 67 for the loss of 2 wickets. Jaffar was on 32 but retired hurt in the 11th over. Dikshith hit a couple more sixes but was out when going for one more with Pranay taking the catch off of Vishwa’s bowling in the 13th over. Though RCC continued to score, they kept losing regular wickets and ended up with a score of 146/9 at the end of 20 overs. Pranay bowled well for Anchors and took 4/14. Vishwa took 3/37. Suri took 1/22 off his four overs.

CCCC Anchors started there chase well and reached 34 in the fourth over when Bharath was out. A couple more quick wickets fell and Anchors were precariously placed at 36/3 after 5.3 overs. Suri joined Sudarshan and they rescued the score and Anchors were at 74/3 after 10 overs. Suda was on 33 with 3 fours and a six. After breaks, Suda was out trying to up the pace and was caught in the deep. This brought Atif to the crease and this partnership pretty much sealed the game for Anchors. They took the score to 140 after 18 overs. Suri hit 53 studded with two 4’s and four 6’s. Atif was a little more sedate on 30 with two 4’s and one 6. The 19th over was dramatic in that Rithvik Reddy got a hattrick (Suri/Shravan/Atif) but Das hit a boundary in the next over to seal the win.

Man of the Match: Suresh Draksharam for his aggressive half century (53) and tidy bowling (4-0-22-1).

Broncos @Colorado Yorkers: T20 – 10 AM Saturday Oct 8, 2022, at Lower Garden Acres, Longmont - Reported by Aniruddha Deshpande(CY)

Naval smashed his first T20 fifty as Colorado Yorkers put up their highest total of the season and Broncos lost the 9th position qualifier by 16 runs.

On the qualifier weekend, Yorkers won the toss and elected to bat on a crisp Colorado Fall morning. The conditions were perfect for a cricket match and Yorkers started well with a 64-run partnership between Sudhir Peri and Shankar. Sudhir has been in great form this season scored yet another 25+ score in this crucial game. A quick fire 36 runs (3 Fours,1 six) setup a platform for Yorkers’ inning. On other hand Shankar played his part holding one side and ensured Sudhir got the strike. Sudhir attempted a wild sweep on the very first ball from Saad and was clean bowled. Yorkers lost 3 quick wickets and from 64 for no loss, they were 77 for 3 at the end of 10th over.

At this important juncture, Broncos were looking for a one more wicket to restrict Yorkers and a low score to chase. But Naval cracked 53 run - a score he reached off 35 balls - and added 46 free-flowing runs for the fourth wicket with Sandeep (17 runs, 2 fours). Naval was in great touch hitting 7 fours and ran well with his batting partners.

After fall of Sandeep’s wicket, Naval had one more significant partnership of 44 runs with Malli (13 not out, one four) and ensured Yorkers have above par score of 171 in 20 overs. For Broncos, Saad was the pick bowler (2/26). But 35 extras by Broncos didn’t help their cause.

In their reply, Broncos didn’t start well and lost both the openers to Malli (2/17) in the first four overs. But Ali Hazrat (45 runs, 2 fours, 2 sixes) and Hafeez (46 runs, 5 fours, 2 sixes) went hard, despite losing early wickets. 68-runs partnership between these two batsmen was threatening to take the match away from Yorkers but a brilliant catch by Shankar of Sudhir’s (1/23) bowling ended wonderful knock by Hafeez.

Zameer was out next over, reducing Broncos to 93/4 end of 13th over. 79 runs were needed in the last 7 overs at the run rate over 11 runs. Broncos needed a quick fire runs from set batsman Ali and Saad. Saad (37 runs, 3 fours, 2 sixes) provided that spark going after Yorkers’ bowling and was joined by Ali who accelerated after fall of Hafeez wicket. A highly entertaining 55 run partnership between these two came in just 4 overs and suddenly Broncos were threatening to win this game. But Ali got out of Naz’s (1/32) bowling, but Saad was still going strong. 28 runs were needs in the last three overs; the question was who will keep the nerves.

Yorkers needed a good over to push the rate beyond 12 runs per over. Here comes Malli with his accurate line and length giving only 4 runs. From the other end, Abhijith needed to bowl similar over and that’s what exactly he did. He gave only 3 runs and got the prize wicket of Saad. 21 runs were needed in the last over, Malli bowled another excellent death over giving away only four runs and Yorkers won by 16 runs.A great game of cricket, played with good spirit by both the teams.

Man of the Match: Naval Bal for his batting (53 runs in 35 balls)

Scorecard: See Broncos Vs CY Scorecard.

BCC-M @ CY: T20 Div2 – 9:30am Sunday 9th, 2022 at Cornerstone, Littleton - Reported by Ajinkya Kolhe(BCC)

On a bright sunny Sunday BCC-M visited Cornerstone to play Colorado Yorkers.

BCC-M won the toss and elected to bowl first to take the advantage of the morning dew on the ground. From there CY pretty much lost wickets at equal intervals and they managed to get 100 run at the end of 20 overs. Sudhir and Aniruddha scored 21 runs each. Bowling for BCC-M, Ajinkya bowled a good spell of 4-0-12-2, supporting those efforts Rahul and Zahid bagged 1 wicket each. Marvels were pretty quick on their feet during fielding and Geo had 4 run outs.

Marvels while chasing down the target of 101 runs, had a sweet 100 run opening partnership between Rakesh and Moin. They both scored 44 runs each, and Marvels achieved the target of 101 in less than 10 overs and won the game comfortably by 10 wickets.

On a bright sunny Saturday BCC-M visited Memorial Park Rose Bowl to play Littleton CC Panthers.

BCC-M won the toss and elected to bat first. With a steady start to the Marvels innings, Neeraj scored 39 runs, supporting him Santosh scored 20run and Rakesh scored quick fire 22 runs. Marvels were able to put up a score of 137 runs at the end of 20 overs. Bowling for LCC-P, Raj bowled a good spell of 4-0-15-3, supporting those efforts Hemanth and Manish both picked up 1 wicket each.

Although the wickets kept on falling from the other end Eugene was hitting all around the park pretty much. Until, Rahul picked up his wicket when LCC’s score was about 117 runs. Eugene scored 77 runs, and with just 21 nus needed to win LCC were the favorites. But that wasn’t to be when BCC pulled back the momentum and picked up all the remaining wickets and LCC was all out at 136. Marvels won the thrilling game by 1 run.

Man of the Match: Eugene Obrieni for his great knock of 77 runs with bat with 6*4s, 3*6s.

Manish and Hitesh bowled a great opening spell without conceding much runs. CSCC scored 24 for loss of 3 wickets in the power play. After the loss of 3rd wicket, Guru Prasad and Karthick held the innings together and made 60 runs partnership. Guru scored an excellent half century which helped CSCC to post a defendable score. Karthick made 20 of 22 balls, Tristan made 16 of 12 balls and Prasath made 14 of 13 balls. Hitesh from FRCC was the best among the bowlers taking 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs. Pridhvi took 2 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs.

In response, FRCC got off to a disastrous start by losing the opener Raj in the first over. Tristan and Ranjith bowled well for CSCC and did not give any opportunity for FRCC to score runs easily. Once Girish lost his wicket in the 15th over, the boundaries dried and the asking rate kept increasing. The equation in the last over was to score 24 runs with 4 wickets in hand and FRCC scored only 4 runs losing 3 wickets. Prasath took 3 wickets for 21 runs in 3 overs and Tristan took 2 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs.
